In Memory

Rosemary, the beloved wife of Gene Wolfe, has passed away. I met her only once at a science fiction convention, and was deeply impressed with her kindness and fortitude.

Here is her obituary:

About John C Wright

John C. Wright is a practicing philosopher, a retired attorney, newspaperman, and newspaper editor, and a published author of science fiction. Once a Houyhnhnm, he was expelled from the august ranks of purely rational beings when he fell in love; but retains an honorary title.

  5. Unlike Mr. Wright I never had the honor of meeting Mrs. Wolfe, and I just learned form her obituary that it’s entirely my fault. Until now I had no idea that she lived in Peoria, IL. I’m writing this exactly one mile away from St. Bernard’s Church, where Mrs. Wolfe’s wedding–and now her funeral–took place. As a student at the parish school I attended Mass there each week.

    Eternal memory.
