Advice on Writing Female Characters

Posted July 1, 2016 By John C Wright

A reader from a few years ago offers some writing advice, which I decline. I thought the exchange worth repeating:
“…a good practice might be to examine your female character as if she were a male character…”

This is precisely what I shall never do: the idea, if you will forgive me, is absurd. Allow me to suggest an opposite tack: if you can examine your female character as if she is a male character and detect no difference in the presentation, you are not portraying the character correctly.

Men and women are radically and fundamentally different; but even if they were not, society should acculturate them to be as different as possible in dress, deportment, and even language, so as to increase the differences hence increase the drama and romance of life. Unisexuality is misery.

Heroic Tales in the Twenty First Century — an addendum

Posted June 30, 2016 By John C Wright

I wrote my previous essay too soon. Just when I thought that there was nothing more unrealistic, showing a basic contempt for basic human psychology, than the scenes I had seen so far in the Third Season of THE ARROW, I stumbled across the pièce de résistance.

I added the following words to the middle of the column, right after describing the absurdity of having the shy, molar-filing-meltingly smoking-hot computer genius girl throw herself at the eccentric billionaire and end up cavorting in bed with him. It gets worse.

The Gap between Worlds

Posted June 29, 2016 By John C Wright

“By essentially requiring the citizen being stalked to enforce the law against battery and assault via the use of firearms, it is in face encouraging the citizen to execute vigilante justice upon the abuser. ”

Here, again, is an essential failure to communicate due to a gap in the difference in worldviews. In the rightwing view, each man is or should be mature and able to defend himself. More than this, it is his duty to defend himself and his family. The role of the police is limited to avenging wrongs after they are done, not preventing them. Police are not bodyguards and have no enforceable, legal duty to protect citizens. (This last is not an opinion but a legal ruling. I can show the case law to anyone interested: Warren v. District of Columbia (444 A.2d. 1, D.C. Ct. of Ap. 1981).)

In the Leftwing view, all is reversed. Each man is or should be a child or an Eloi, unable to defend himself. More than this, any attempt to defend himself leads to accidental death and mayhem as the childlike creatures shoot themselves in suicidal moments, shoot each other in moments of rage, or shoot everyone accidentally through mishandling the dangerous weapon. In this worldview, the police are like bodyguards, trained and trusted professionals, and it is their duty and theirs alone to keep the childlike creatures safe.

The idea that the police derive their just powers from the will of the childlike creatures and are organized merely as a convenience so that the posse or militia need not gather at every crime or riot, this is an idea utterly incomprehensible to the Left, and it cannot be communicated to them.

Heroic Tales in the Twenty First Century – Conclusion

Posted June 25, 2016 By John C Wright

Here is the conclusion to my previous essay on heroic tales in the Twenty First Century, which time erenow forbade me to write:

The Twenty Firsters are in rebellion against all moral authority, in the name of independence, or of self actualization, or of self esteem, or something of the sort. Being against moral authority, they are also in rebellion against the truth about himself.

What is the truth about Man? It is mysterious, but certain facts about the human condition are so obvious that men prefer to forget them.

One such fact is this: Man is a creature who can envision what good and heroic life should be, and who falls short just often enough to let him realize that he cannot, under his own power, live such a life.

But the vision haunts and torments him. Despite his best and desperate efforts to lower himself to the moral condition of an animal who lives for nothing higher than simple, immediate gratification of appetites for food or mate or warmth or revenge against whatever frightens him, the vision of heroism will not let him be. The conscience that man by his own unaided, natural means cannot satisfy will not stay silent.

Without being literal, stories, even fantastic stories about impossible things can be truthful in three chords. Tales can be truthful and idealistic, telling about man as he should be in a better world, or be truthful and cynical, telling about man as he is in this fallen world. Some can even be truthful and despairing, warning of how much worse it might be in men surrendered to their base instincts.

But stories can also be lies.

From the pen of John Lott

Posted June 24, 2016 By John C Wright

John R. Lott, author of MORE GUNS LESS CRIME, holds forth on the unwisdom of so called Gun-free zones. They are, of course, Self-Defense-free zones, herds of prey were there are no bulls with sharp, scary horns to defend the cows and calves.

These shooters are crazy, but not stupid. Even dumb beasts know to attack the weakest member of the herd.

http://www.nationalreview.com/article/425802/look-facts-gun-free-zones-john-lott

Mass killers have even explicitly talked about their desire to attack gun-free zones. The Charleston, S.C., church shooting in June was instead almost a college shooting. But that killer changed his plans after realizing that the College of Charleston had armed guards.

The diary of the “Dark Knight” movie-theater killer, James Holmes, was finally released just a few months ago. Holmes decided not to attack an airport because of what he described in his diary as its “substantial security.” Out of seven theaters showing the Batman movie premiere within 20 minutes of the suspect’s apartment, only one theater banned permitted concealed handguns. That’s the one he attacked.

Or take two cases from last year. Elliot Rodger, who fatally shot three people in Santa Barbara, Calif., explained his reasoning in his 141-page “manifesto.” He ruled out various targets because he worried that someone with a gun would stop his killing spree.

Justin Bourque shot to death three people in Canada. On Facebook, Bourque posted a picture of a defenseless victim explaining to killers that guns are prohibited. Shooters have good reason to be concerned.

Writer’s Forum?

Posted June 21, 2016 By John C Wright

I fellow writer just wrote me and asked if I knew of any writers’ forums (fora?) where he could get useful feedback on “Blue SF with frequent Catholic themes.”

I had no answer, being an emotionless Houyhnhnm, I’ve never thought of asking for advice, but I know such things are useful to people who can more easily pass for human than I.

Do any readers out there know of use a forum who could look over stories? If so, leave a comment in the comments box below.

Heroic Tales in the Twenty First Century

Posted June 19, 2016 By John C Wright

One of the most regrettable things about the Twenty First century is that, now that we finally have swept aside the pall of Twentieth Century’s obsession with grim, unheroic, nihilistic literature, and emerged into the glorious era eager for heroic tales, the Twenty Firsters almost know how to tell one, but not quite.

Even a simple tale of heroism, wonder, romance and adventure such as all previous generations knew how to tell, the Twenty-Firsters cannot tell, or not quite.

From Achilles and Hercules onward, there have always been tales of larger than life heroes who make larger than life sacrifices to save the innocent. In the ancient world, they were myth, in the latter days, fairy tales, fables, tales to fill a thousand Arabian nights and a night. In the modern day, they are superhero tales.

The Twenty Firsters can get all the basics correct: strong characters with dramatic motivations meeting overwhelming odds and clinging to hope when hope is gone, struggling onward, achieving, overcoming. The dialog, the clever plot twists, the three dimensional verisimilitude of the characters, all put the simple juvenile literature from which they spring to shame. I have been dumbfounded on many an occasion, when watching the recent television versions of DAREDEVIL, or FLASH, or THE ARROW, or LEGENDS OF TOMORROW, or SUPERGIRL, or movies from the Marvel Universe, at the sheer brilliance of the writing and grace of the action. The Twenty Firsters shine brightly at what they do so well.

But what they do badly is egregiously bad.

For the Twenty Firsters cannot tell a twice told tale of a modern day Robin Hood, or a runner as fast as Mercury, or a group of heroes as bold as the Argonauts, or a cute girl-type Hercules, without intruding unwelcome, tin-eared, heavy-handed, preachy, silly and sick-minded political points.

I have been forced by circumstance to add a new rule to my list (see the lefthand panel) warning all and sundry that posts containing embedded images that are too large for the page, or which offend good taste, are subject to deletion without further notice, at your host’s sole discretion.

This is because I discovered that Disqus does not give me the option to remove the image but keep the text intact. If you wish to avoid your immortal words being unfortunately thrust down the memory hole for an inoffensive image whose sole error is that it is too large, post them separately.

The Baraklash!

Posted June 17, 2016 By John C Wright

Barack Obama took office as the 44th President of the United States on Tuesday, January 20, 2009. This is a partial list of attacks on American citizens on American soil by Jihadists acting in the name of Jihad, or violent Islamicists justifying their act in the name of Islam, since that time. (Attacks on American citizens overseas are excluded for reasons of space).

Feb. 12, 2009 – Pakistani-American Muzzammil Syed Hassan was the CEO of the first American Muslim TV network broadcast in English, Bridge TV. Hassan beheaded his estranged wife, Aasiya Zubair, after she filed for divorce. Her body was found at the TV station. When he was arrested, he said he “felt an incredible amount of relief” after he killed the woman.

April 12, 2009 – Upon learning that they had patronized a strip club, a Muslim man shoots and kills his brother-in-law and another man in Phoenix, Arizona.

June 1, 2009 – In a drive-by shooting, Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad – a convert to Islam who had traveled to Yemen and was deported to the U.S. for overstaying his visa – opened fire on U.S. soldiers standing in front of a Little Rock, Arkansas, recruiting office. Muhammad killed one private and injured another. When he was arrested Muhammad explained that he had planned to kill as many soldiers as possible and was given the assignment by Al-Qaeda in the Arab Peninsula.

November 2009 – Iraq-born Muslim man Faleh Hassan Almaleki, 48, intentionally hit his daughter with his car and killed her because she had become “too Westernized.” He also attacked the mother of the girl’s boyfriend. Police said, “It occurred because [of] her not following traditional family values. He felt she was becoming too westernized, and he didn’t like that.” His daughter had backed out of an arranged marriage.

Nov. 5, 2009 – Muslim gunman Nidal Malik Hassan, an Army psychiatrist, fatally shoots 13 people and wounds 30 others at Fort Hood, Texas.

Dec. 4, 2009 – A Muslim graduate student from Saudi Arabia, Abdulsalam S. al-Zahrani, stabbed his non-Muslim Islamic studies professor, Richard T. Antoun, to death to avenge “persecuted” Muslims. One of his roommates said, “He was all the time shouting in Arabic, shouting threats, insulting his country for no reason.”

April 14, 2010 – A Muslim convert, James A. Larry, 33, became angry that his family would not convert to Islam and shot his mother, pregnant wife, infant son and two nieces in Marquette Park, Illinois. He pleaded guilty to multiple counts of murder, attempted murder and the intentional homicide of an unborn child. “He was upset at his wife and their family — he felt disrespected that they would not join his religion,” Assistant State’s Attorney Jim McKay said. “It didn’t matter if they were young or old, pregnant or not. He wanted them dead.” Larry also shot his 13-year-old nephew in the face, but the boy survived. When the man was arrested, he told officers Allah told him to kill his family, according to court records. According to a police report, he said, “I wish I had more bullets. I wish I had more bullets.”

April 30, 2011 – Rahim Abdul Alfetlawi, 46, shot his step-daughter in the head at point-blank range in Warren, Michigan, after she refused to strictly adhere to Muslim customs. The family claimed the motive was not religion.

Sept. 11, 2011 – Three Jewish men are discovered in Waltham, Massachusetts, with their throats slit from ear to ear and nearly decapitated. Authorities believed the murders were not random, and thousands of dollars in cash and marijuana were left at the scene. According to reports, authorities believe Boston Marathon bombers Tamerlan Tsarnaev and his younger brother, both Muslims, may have been responsible for the triple homicide.

Jan. 15, 2012 – A Jordanian Muslim man, Ali Mahwood-Awad Irsan, 57, gunned down Iranian medical student, Gelareh Bagherzadeh, a friend of his daughter and a Christian convert who widely denounced Islam. He later killed his Christian son-in-law after his daughter married him without permission. Assistant Harris County District Attorney Tammy Thomas told a district judge, “He said, ‘I killed that b–ch, and you’re next. No one insults my honor as a Muslim and gets away with it.’”

Feb. 7, 2013 – Yusuf Ibrahim, 28, shot two Coptic Christians to death and beheaded them in Buena Vista, New Jersey. He also removed their hands before burying their bodies in the backyard of an abandoned house. Quran 8:12 states, “When thy Lord was revealing to the angels, ‘I am with you; so confirm the believers. I shall cast into the unbelievers’ hearts terror; so smite above the necks, and smite every finger of them!”

Time for a Temperance Movement

Posted June 17, 2016 By John C Wright

I read this column by Rod Dreher, which I quote in full below. The italic words below are Mr. Dreher’s; the indented text is the anonymous law enforcement officer whose sad and grim words he quotes.

A reader who is a veteran police detective in a major college town writes in response to the “What Is Consent To A Drunk?” post. I have removed identifying information at his request. He starts by saying that the four years he spent working in his department’s sexual assault division were the worst of his career. He explains below:

In the course of my career, I have responded to the hospital to investigate a report of sexual assault hundreds of times. Here is the down and dirty bottom line regarding 90%+ of reported adult sexual assaults: It’s the alcohol. Period. Full stop.

Of all of those hundreds of reported sexual assaults that I have responded to over the years, I can count the number of substantiated incidents of what Whoopi Goldberg so inartfully once termed “rape- rape” on both hands without taking off my shoes. I’m talking about the full on stranger rapes, the “Jack the Ripper drags a helpless woman into an alley” type of scenario that pops in most peoples’ minds when they hear the word “rape.”

Section wide, we probably average less than ten of those “nightmare” rapes a year in a city of 300,000 people. The rest of them, the overwhelming rest of them, are acquaintance rapes. And alcohol is at the bottom of the vast majority of those.

People who are removed from the social scene of young adults today can’t really comprehend how out of control alcohol abuse is among college students and other young people looking to party. I went to a “party school” myself and there was a lot of drinking in the mid- nineties. Thursday night was the big party night and I had a lot of classes on Friday mornings that were mostly empty.

But these kids today don’t want to just drink to get buzzed and have a good time. They drink with the goal of a black out. It starts with the “pregame.” Prior to going out to hit the bars with your fraternity bros or sorority sisters, you meet at someone’s house and have a couple of drinks there before you even leave. The idea is that you get a little buzzed before you leave, so you won’t spend as much money on overpriced drinks at the bars.

Of course, it doesn’t actually work out that way. They have two beers at home and then three, five, seven more at the bars. Plus the two shots that somebody bought them.

So by last call, they’ve had anywhere from five to God only knows how many drinks in about a four hour period. In a 115 pound sorority sister, that’s a hell of a lot of alcohol.

Oh, and did I mention how many of them are on medications that are contraindicated for alcohol? Given our pill-popping culture in general, I’ll just round up and say that all of them are. Especially mood altering medications and most especially Ambien.

Ambien, my God, the Ambien. Maybe it’s a regional thing, but sometimes it seems like they get it given to them like candy around here. Ambien, of course, intensifies the effects of alcohol, yet these kids pop their daily prescribed dose before or during the pregame, effectively “roofieing” themselves before they even leave the house.

And I’m still mostly talking about the women here. The men, the accused suspects, are usually drinking even more then the girls do. Judgement gets impaired all around.

Now, this self-intoxication by the victims does not excuse rape. But what gets reported to us isn’t “rape- rape” most of the time.

What gets reported is “Well, me and my girlfriends met at Lisa’s apartment to pre- game. I had a beer and a shot there. Then we went to This Bar and That Bar and I had three shots at the first place and an Appletini at the second place plus this guy gave me half his beer. So, we were dancing and then Lisa and Cindy left. So the guy who gave me half his beer said we should go to This Other Bar to meet his friend and we did. And I had two shots and then he bought me this mixed drink… I don’t remember what it was called or what was in it. And then I had another beer and we danced and I remember we were making out at one point in the bathroom and I gave him a blow job. Then I remember we left This Other bar-”

Needle scratch. Wait a minute. You gave him oral sex?

“Well, yeah…”

So, back to our narrative, our victim and the guy she just met “hook up” consensually and close down the bar and now its 2 AM and she can’t really remember much after that, just bits and pieces, until she woke up in a strange place next to a strange man.

And there’s your other big piece of the reported sexual assault puzzle: Hook up culture. Everything up to PIV (penis in vagina) is on the table when you’re hitting the bar scene. It’s almost a given.

The twist? It’s not the guy she was dancing with and gave oral sex to. It’s his roommate. She thinks she had sex, but she can’t remember. She went home and talked to her roommate and her roommate talked her into coming to the hospital.

So she has the exam and she’s got no physical injuries because nobody beat, punched, or choked her. And we talk to the guy and the roommate and their story is that she came home with them and she and the roommate sat up talking and smoking weed after the guy she came home with passed out in the living room and one thing led to another and the roommate had consensual sex with her too.

And out of this morass of bad decisions and contradictory claims, the social justice types want us to present a viable prosecution? Ain’t happening.

This story plays out with subtle variations over and over and over again. At the bottom of them all are “Demon Rum” and Hook- up culture. In some cases, the suspect’s behavior is more egregious, but not usually. Physical evidence, including DNA, isn’t the answer. Most of the time all a sexual assault examination proves is that the alleged victim had sex. It doesn’t prove whether or not the sex was consensual. There are no injuries because the body parts used for sexual relations are made to be stretched. It still almost always comes down to “he said- she said.”

At the end of the day, you end up with a mess that you can’t prosecute. And, in all fairness, I shouldn’t want to see it prosecuted. Probable cause is a pretty low standard. It doesn’t take much proof for me to arrest you, but when it comes to sexual offenses, I’ve always felt I had a duty to make sure I went beyond mere probable cause before I charged. The reason is that even if a suspect ends up beating the charge at trial down the road, all his friends and family members will know that he got arrested for rape for the rest of his life. That’s a stance that’s gotten me in Dutch with rape crisis counselors and the like a time or two over the years.

But no worries, because most of the time, the victim flakes out within a week, calls you up, and says she doesn’t want to proceed with the investigation anymore. So you pend that case and forget it and wait for the phone to ring again.

This is why I called my years primarily investigating adult sex crimes as “purgatory” at the beginning. So many cases end up being so pointless. It gets really hard when you’re dealing with people that we have legally declared to be “adults’ by virtue of their age who are still making terrible choices.

I’m afraid it sounds like I’m faulting the victims. And I guess I am, to a certain degree, but it’s a bit more nuanced than that. I have sympathy for these women and I believe that the vast majority of them do truly believe that they have been wronged. (An email about the ones I’ve come across who make false allegations out of spite, jealousy, or mental problems like the girl at UVA would be at least as long as this one.) On a moral and ethical level, based upon quaint standards of chivalry and gentlemanly behavior that no one seems to practice anymore but that the Disney corporation told these women from a young age that they should expect, they have been wronged. But that doesn’t mean a crime has occurred.

Years ago I took a class on Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design. One of the illustrations that the instructor used was that of the “Triangle of Crime.” In order to have a crime, you need three things: A Criminal, a Victim, and a Place for the crime to happen. Eliminate any one of those pieces and no crime occurs.

Eliminate the binge drinking and hook- up cultures that a vast, vast majority of reported sexual assault victims willingly participate in, and you would eliminate practically all reported sexual assaults in this country. Eighty percent of them at least would disappear because you would eliminate the victim side of the crime triangle.

We do not do our young people, be they men or women, any favors when we shrug off self- destructive behavior as just “sowing wild oats” in 2016 because it is well beyond that in our fallen and broken culture. Young people, though they may be of legal age for a lot of this activity, still need guardrails.

I don’t have a whole lot of hope personally that will change before I retire in a few years. I suspect it will get much worse.

I feel like I should close by mentioning my perspective on the Stanford sexual assault case. That case is not the typical drunken victim scenario that I’ve been going on about here, even though the victim did drink a lot. She had apparently moved past “blackout” to full- on unconsciousness and there’s no way that the suspect can claim some kind of misunderstanding or miscommunication. I would have killed to have the facts of that case during my time in purgatory, which I realize is a weird thing to say. Only a very grizzled veteran sex crimes detective can hear a story like that and think “What an awesome rape case to work! Witnesses! Suspects caught fleeing the scene! Beautiful, I tell you!”

That victim by all accounts is, for lack of a better term, a true victim of “rape- rape.” The judge’s sentencing decision is horrible. For one thing, it’s a very difficult thing to get a successful prosecution on a sex offense through a jury trial. There’s almost always one nut on a jury who thinks all women are asking for it or just can’t bring themselves to decide that the clean cut young man in the suit at the defendant’s table could have actually done something so horrible that will hang your jury.

My professional advice to anyone who is a victim of a sexual offense or who has a relative who is a victim of a sexual offense who has a case that is getting ready for a jury trial and the prosecutor comes to you and says “The defendant is willing to plead to a lesser offense, but it’s up to you if we make the deal or not,” is to agree to the deal. Juries are just completely unpredictable, especially when it comes to sex offenses. I’ve seen it happen too many times where a victim has to endure the public spectacle of a trial only to have the defendant acquitted, found guilty of a lesser offense anyway, or the jury hung. It’s very tough. Take the deal.

My comment:

From a legal point of view, the sole way to make the consent of the women utterly unambiguous is to have the man and woman vow mutual and eternal fidelity to each other in a public ceremony, surrounded by such unambiguous and open signs, symbols, rites and rituals, that no one in no way could ever mistake the meaning: and by this I mean marriage.

Marriage serves many purposes, but one legal purpose it serves is removing all ambiguity between consensual sex and rape. There are certain unwise jurisdictions that have, during my lifetime, experimented with overturning the common law precept that no man can rape his wife. The disastrous effects of bringing such lawsuits could be easily foreseen by anyone not afflicted with the brain disease called Leftism.

Such evil effects were foreseen before no-fault divorce became the norm, or contraception made legal by judicial fiat, as evidenced by the fact that the Christian teaching has always sided with wisdom and experience.

Leftism is a complex phenomenon with many parts, but the one thing all parts have in common is a bitter, driving, and clench-toothed hatred of Christianity and of everything Christian.

But let us put aside the possibility of a chaste and just society, one that treats women well. That has not been the case in my lifetime, and nearly everyone treats women with the most withering contempt imaginable in modern culture, feminists most of all. To return to sanity and civility in the sexual arena is unimaginable: both sexual perversion and sex out of wedlock are the only forms of erotic expression regarded as worthy of praise in our sick, braindead, modern culture. That patient is beyond resuscitation, except by divine miracle. Let us speak only of having some small reasonable protection for eighteen and nineteen year old girls.

I note, with an historian’s eye, that not only is ours the first culture in the history of the world whose express and public moral standard of behavior taught to children is to indulge in any pleasure they can conceive under the theory that no pleasant thing ever has any bad side effect, ramifications, or pregnancies, ever, ever; but it is also the first culture in the history of the world where young women from good families were flung into the company of desperately randy young men without any sort of chaperoning, supervision, or restraint.

The grown ups the young women meet at college, their professors and so on, are usually Christ-hating radicals who grew up thinking that the sexual revolution was an evolutionary triumph for women’s liberty. It is not that the idea that one should remain a virgin until marriage is unknown to them; it is that the idea that one should not have sex with a fellow until after you find out his name is unknown. Modesty is unknown. Femininity is unknown.

The only moral principle taught to the eager yet impressionable youths is that ‘slut-shaming’ is wrong (‘Slut-shaming’ an Orwellian term used to refer to what was once called prudence, temperance, wisdom and chastity).

The only moral principle taught to young women is that it is wrong, inexcusably wrong, to admire moral principle.

That seemingly impractical abstract principle, the principle of non-contradiction, is indeed the root of the bacchanalia culture, the orgy culture, the hook-up culture and the sexual liberation culture that lying feminists deceptively and maliciously call the rape culture on college campuses. They must lie, because they wished for it, sought for it, fought for it, sustain it and nurture it.

Feminism is the opposite of femininity. Femininity is a strong and subtle thing with many aspects, but a core aspect is the sanctification both of motherhood and of virginity. Matrons and maidens are sacred. Femininity means modesty, chastity, purity, and allure. Harlotry is unalluring. Harlotry without pay is not even a fair financial exchange of specie for services rendered. Feminism preaches that femininity is an outward sign of a sinister conspiracy to rob women of their equality.

All this blabber-mouthed and foul-mouthed feminist preaching and snake-oil is but the wolf wearing the woolly fleece called equality. What you were promised was equal footing with men. What you got was demeaned. Those of you who like being women, they despise. And those of you who act like dickless men, you fail.

Even the weakest man is more manly than the most masculine woman. Professional adult women athletes are routinely bested by teen boys on J. V. teams. You are as good at being brothers, fathers, and conquerors as we are at being sisters, mothers, and nurturers. In a world of men and women, they coordinate and complement each other, and do not compete: there is no inequality because there is no common standard. In a world of men and dickless men with breasts, where everything is judged by the male standard, the men outperform the dickless men, and there is no equality at all, and the dickless men cry like girls, and, like girls, get someone to protect them and avenge insults done them. Since the dickless have rejected men as their protectors, they turn to Caesar.

A man who makes a joke about women in science crying is punished; a rocket scientist who wears a shirt with bathing beauties is punished; a drunk boy who sleeps with  drunk girl who performed oral sex on him earlier that night and wound up naked on the couch together is punished.

It has been said that woman need a man like a fish needs a bicycle. It is a lie. Either you have a real man to protect you, or you have Caesar, the state, the Fuhrer. But the government will never love you.

Feminist scorn the idea of a gentleman putting his lady on a pedestal: their solution, in the name of equality, was to cast you into the gutter, ladies.

They told you to have all the sex your appetites could imagine, and to rid yourself of the precious gift of a little baby’s life growing within you by killing it, and either selling your child’s organs, or dumping the body as medical waste in the rubbish heap, without Christian burial. They told you killing your children, denying your nature, and damning your soul was the path to equality.

Well, look at the hell called campus rape culture: it is the dizzying winds described by Dante that fling the lustful hither and yon without rest.

Look hard. That is feminism.

Landscape of the Night Lands

Posted June 16, 2016 By John C Wright

Here is an article I wished I had seen before I wrote my NIGHT LANDS homage. The landscape here, with its lava lakes and salt flats, chemical springs and rivers leading nowhere, seemed much like the haunted nightscape surrounding the Last Redoubt.
