People Versus George Lucas

My ponderous person appeared in a documentary and offered my ponderous opinion on George Lucas, Science Fiction, and whether or not the Jedi religion merited inclusion in the Orange-Catholic Bible of the Zen-sunni. Alexandre O Phillip, the film-maker, read my musings and ponderings that appeared in STAR WARS ON TRIAL from Benbella Books, and was amused enough by my essay that he asked me to appear on the silver screen. The book and the film have nothing to do with each other aside from the topic of the discussion, which is to put George Lucas on Trial for his Crimes Against My Childhood. Why Benbella Books and Exhibit A Pictures, and, one assumes, a healthy percentage of the readers and viewers thereof share a maddening, red-eyed, gut-twisting desire for brutal and draconian justice to be carried out on the person of George Lucas is a matter for speculation.

Below is the latest news from the film project.

DENVER, CO–June 1, 2010–Following packed and buzzworthy screenings at SXSW, Hot Docs and It’s All True, THE PEOPLE vs. GEORGE LUCAS (PvG) is primed to hit four top-tier film festivals this month for a series of premieres.
The mini-tour starts with a European Premiere at the 63rd Edinburgh International Film Festival (June 16-27)–one of the world’s oldest and most respected international film festivals. PvG then heads to the Los Angeles Film Festival for its West Coast Premiere with an event screening at the Ford Amphitheatre on June 23rd, followed by two screenings at the AFI’s flagship Silver Theater during SILVERDOCS (June 21-27) in Washington DC (East Coast Premiere). Dale Pollock (George Lucas’s biographer, author of SKYWALKING) will be the special guest in attendance for the second screening, and will participate in a Q&A with Alexandre. PvG is also one of six documentaries at SILVERDOCS nominated for the WGA Documentary Screenplay Award this year. The film will then return to Europe for its German premiere at the Munich Film Festival (June 25-July 3)—Germany’s largest film festival next to Berlin.
“These four festivals are a dream line-up for our film,” says Director Alexandre O. Philippe, who will attend all screenings with his producing team, “and I couldn’t think of a stronger combination of world class events for this series of premieres.
