Banned for Bad Language

Posted March 18, 2019 By John C Wright

Some readers do not seem willing to read and abide by my rules, which I am courteous enough to post on the first page of my blog here in the lefthand column.

I ban for foul language. Basically, if you cannot say it on the radio, you cannot type it here. This is not a locker room, and some children read this blog. My mother sees it.

Leave off your uncouth sewer mouth language, and I will let the comments stand. If you write me privately and convince me of your contrition, I will reinstate your privilege.

But I am not your mother and I am not the school marm. I do not have time to edit comments and remove obscene words one by one. Far easier merely to hit the delete key.

You are allowed to comment here at my sufferance, as my guest. I have rules that I apply without favoritism on friend and foe alike. If you break the rules, you are gone, whether I disagree with you or not. If you do not, you stay, whether I agree with you or not.

That is the way civilized men act. It is a sad commentary on the modern day that I need to explain this to anyone.

Argument from Self Interest

Posted March 18, 2019 By John C Wright

If I may be so bold as to proffer advice to the atheists of the camp I once served so faithfully and from which I departed so completely, keeping with me no regrets and no fond memories of camaraderie as I left, I would like to suggest that you support the coming Christian revival with all your heart and all your soul and all your strength, because the only alternative is Venezuela, is the Caliphate, and is a boot trampling on a human face forever.

The alternative is between civilization and barbarism.

Question on Captain Marvel

Posted March 15, 2019 By John C Wright

I have a general question open to anyone who cares to answer:

If you saw the film CAPTAIN MARVEL, the latest super flick from the Marvel Studios, do you think it was worth going to see?

Were the theater seats filled? I heard a rumor that Disney was buying theater tickets to create a phony box office number, and I’d like to know if any of y’all were alone in the theater?

The commercials for it really smothered my interest, and Captain Marvel is perhaps my least favorite Marvel character next to the Runaways, so I was not eager to see it, but all of the Marvel offerings erenow have really pleased me.

It is worth seeing?

Is Hell Voluntary?

Posted March 15, 2019 By John C Wright

There are some who say that the gates of Hell are locked from the inside, not from the outside, because those who suffer in the pit of Hell are the ones who flung themselves there of their own free will to begin with.

If you ask me, I will answer like an elf, and say both yes and no. It is true in one sense and not in another that Hell is voluntary.

The problem with all such discussions is that we beings who live in time are trying to picture what existence in eternity might be like.

Quote of the Day

Posted March 13, 2019 By John C Wright

“Over a half century ago, while I was still a child, I recall hearing a number of old people offer the following explanation for the great disasters that had befallen Russia: “Men have forgotten God; that’s why all this has happened.”

Since then I have spent well-nigh 50 years working on the history of our revolution; in the process I have read hundreds of books, collected hundreds of personal testimonies, and have already contributed eight volumes of my own toward the effort of clearing away the rubble left by that upheaval.

But if I were asked today to formulate as concisely as possible the main cause of the ruinous revolution that swallowed up some 60 million of our people, I could not put it more accurately than to repeat: “Men have forgotten God; that’s why all this has happened.”

On Hell

Posted March 12, 2019 By John C Wright

Like many a Christian, if there were some way to avoid a belief in Hell, I would take it. No doctrine is more unpleasing to the tender emotions. However, the God in which the Christians have faith is primarily a god of reason, a rational god, who made man as rational creatures like Himself. We even call Him the Logos.

What is the logic of hell? Why must it be?

Let us review, in brief, the basic reasoning behind the Christian knowledge. We here start with the most abstract question in order to reach the specific question addressed. Why is there anything? Why was creation created?

They made him necessary. He’ll make them pay.

Student Thomas Arthur Dormio leads the Brussels Service Academy’s history club, a front for a dissident grounder cell. The Human Liberation Organization conducts a campaign of blackmail, sabotage, and terrorism to free Earth from the Socs.

En route to make contact with the HLO, Second Lieutenant Theodore Red arrives in orbit over Western Europe. But before he starts the next phase of the resistance on Earth, Red has a man to kill.

Will the HLO avenge themselves on the Coalition? Or will personal grudges and conflicting purposes tear them apart? Find out in the pages of Combat Frame XSeed: Coalition Year 40!

Back it now!

The Morlocks and the Space Princess

Posted March 7, 2019 By John C Wright

Love STAR WARS? Love space princesses? Then prepare to be gaslighted:

The Morlocks will never stop until everything you love and know, even things you thought were not even remotely related to politics, are corrupted and destroyed, and reborn as weapons against you, your faith, your nation, your basic sense of reality, and your perfectly sane ideas about men and women. That includes space princesses.
