Last Crusade 46: An Engine Called the Press

Posted August 29, 2020 By John C Wright

The Last Crusade begins this day. Our task is to retake possession of Western Civilization. We have identified their seven strongholds and three centers of power. The task now is to discuss strategy. Let us start with a discussion of the Press.

The battle is unequal. The forces of corruption need only to rot, to degenerate, and to destroy. Sea wave after sea wave can undermine the tallest cliff.

The enemy forces are greatly aided by the sins that beset any group of men, no matter how goodwilled and upright. Envy, for example, will always bestow the ideas of socialism an extra magnetism and allure those ideas do not by right possesses; likewise, lust grants undue glamor to the tawdry deceptions of sexual liberation.

The various sins need not dominate the majority for the corruption to take hold. They need only be present.

These sins need only befog the sight of the watchman, relax the nerve of discipline, make his swordblows soft and slow. An atmosphere of moral uncertainty, where every opinion is right, no one is wrong, and good and evil are a matter of personal taste, is all that is needed in order for the progress of the disintegration of society to advance another infinitesimal increment.

Nor is there any easy answer, any safe way to wage this war, nor any earthly hope of victory.

Every hand is against us, every word scorns and opposes us, including the whisper of our own sinful hearts.

Our hope is in heaven, or does not exist at all.

Comedy Skit

Posted August 27, 2020 By John C Wright

You may have seen this before.

My comment: I looked this up, because the comedian, Ryan Long, expressed wonder that his skit about the Stock Market being overvalued was shadowbanned and demonetized by more than one social media platform, but this, which he thought would be banned directly, was never criticized.

At least during the Victorian Age, when you were being censored, the Victorians used clear and consistent standards. That was because their goal was to uplift the moral character of the public. When the goal is to demoralize and disrupt, an ever-changing standard, arbitrarily and unevenly applied is the best Pavlovian technique for inducing a neurotic sense of helplessness and anger.

The Birth of Nations

Posted August 27, 2020 By John C Wright

There are only three means of forming a government: by birth, by conquest, and by covenant.

Clans and tribes forming a kingdom by electing or acclaiming a chieftain or high king from their midst is an example of the first. Such groups spring from a common ancestor. The Normans ruling the Saxons in England after William the Conqueror, or the castes of India are an example of the second: the children of the conquerors rule over a lower class of the children of the vanquished.

In history, there are only two examples of government formed by covenant: the first is the USA. The other is ancient Israel.

All Men Dream of Earthwomen, Noetic File 9.0 Beyond the Power of Designers, is now posted.

Noetic File 9.0: Beyond the Power of Designers

The narrator, in a digression, expresses the central conceit of the lore of our world communion, if not of all futurian or speculative writing.

Eschatologists, and other who study the final extinction of mankind in the face of the superior races we have created to replace ourselves, find this central passage of the work to be a stumblingblock to their fond theories. It is precisely for this reason the Amphitriciad did not find favor among the intellectual clade of previous generations.

Alt Right Support for Biden

Posted August 26, 2020 By John C Wright

From Newsweek:

White nationalist Richard Spencer has said he will be backing Democratic candidate Joe Biden in November’s election after previously distancing himself from Donald Trump.  Spencer, who was one of the key figureheads of the alt-right movement, tweeted how he is “on Team Joe” on Monday, adding in a self-made campaign slogan, “Liberals are clearly more competent.”

In a series of tweets, Spencer further explained his reasoning for backing Biden.

“The MAGA/Alt-Right moment is over. I made mistakes; Trump is an obvious disaster; but mainly the paradigm contained flaws that we now are able to perceive. And it needs to end,” Spencer wrote. “So be patient. We’ll have another day in the sun. We need to recover and return in a new form.”

In another tweet, Spencer added: “I will never flip on my fundamental principles. (My principles were never voting for the supposed ‘the lesser or two evils’ or ‘stopping big government.’) … Walking into certain defeat, even death, is not heroic. It’s foolhardy. I have no sympathy for martyrs. I admire winners.”

For those of you unfamiliar with Mr. Spencer, he is an obscure crackpot elevated to fame by the Left, who need him as a boogieman with whom Republicans are meant to be identified and conflated. He has nothing in common with the Right, with Patriots, or with Christians, who do indeed feel sympathy for martyrs, from whose shed blood the only true victory flows.

The Biden campaign, as expected, immediately repudiated the support in somewhat childish language.

RNC

Posted August 24, 2020 By John C Wright

If you can find copies of the speeches from the Republican National Convention online, please watch at least some of them. I have never been impressed, nor moved, by a political speech in my life, nor do I make such recommendations lightly.

Trump has hit upon the simple, clever, and honest strategy of asking individuals from the various walks of life whom his policies have directly aided — in one case, saved her life — to testify to their personal experience. It is brilliant rhetoric without being in any way rhetorical.

By all reports, Fox News, once known for being the sole remaining fair and balanced news source, has joined the mainstream. Like the Establishment GOP or “Uniparty” Republicans of the pre-Trump era, Fox News is now on the same path as CNN, merely traveling more slowly.

Why Do the Heathen Rage

Posted August 20, 2020 By John C Wright

One of my readers writes and says she has had a bad day, overwhelmed. Another recommends reading Psalm 2.

I reprint it here by way of passing along a word of balm.

Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?

The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying,

Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.

He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.

Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.

Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.

I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.

Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.

Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.

Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling.

Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

If only my atheist friends — I used to have more, but their friendship dwindles as time goes on, and the logic of their ideas moves them toward the inevitable binary choice between Christ and Antichrist — could read Psalms with the same objective eye used to read, let us say, the hymns to Jove or praised paid to Odin, they would recognize both the philosophical depth and the poetic merit of the work, and rejoice in the psalmists’ art.

Atheism not only cuts one off from heaven, but, as time goes on, step by step, the logic of godlessness will cut one off from everything issuing from heaven and dependent on it, such as the concept of the universality of justice, the objectivity of reason, the brotherhood of man, the dignity of humanity, the worth of human life, the sacredness of liberty, the meaning of joy.

Dems No Longer Under God

Posted August 20, 2020 By John C Wright

The Democrats are no longer in any nation under God.

From  CBN News

…. the words, “under God” were left out of the Pledge of Allegiance at least twice at public meetings during the Democratic National Convention.

AJ Durrani, the moderator for the DNC’s Muslim Delegates & Allies Assembly, left the words out as their meeting got underway … speakers at the virtual meeting included DNC Chairman Tom Perez, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT), and Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib.

Separately, at the LGBT Caucus Meeting, Dr. Marisa Richmond, a DNC delegate who identifies as transgender … led the Pledge of Allegiance but paused silently in the place of the words, “under God.” She was holding both the American flag and the gay pride flag, which dropped to the floor in the middle of the pledge.

From the Washington Times

At least two caucus meetings at this week’s Democratic National Convention began with recitations of the Pledge of Allegiance that omitted the phrase “under God.”

Two videos posted online — one of the person kicking off a Muslim meeting, and the other starting an LGBT meeting — showed the Pledge being recited incompletely.

My comment: Please note that these are not outliers, but the core and soul of mainstream Leftwing Progressivism. It is the Party movers and shakers on their nationwide political convention.

I leave to others to debate whether the mask of hypocrisy of the Dems is being so casually and imprudently tossed aside because they imagine their victory is absolute — merely one among many of their beliefs which are not merely false, but the diametric opposite of truth — or because their hatred and thirst for revenge against all things normal, hale, and sacred has finally over-toppled what little faculty of reason their irrational philosophy left to them.

Rejoice. This is their death knell.

When the Sons of Abraham forsook the Lord which led them out of Egypt, and whored after strange gods, the shaking sword shattered in Israel’s girlish grip, and Nebuchadnezzar, Darius, Alexander, and Caesar swept over them.

Neither can these paynim, perverts, pedophiles, pagans and patrons of Jeffrey Epstein, prevail against the Silenced Majority.

I do not foresee any easy fray. The battle is bitter. I do foresee triumph.

Those same strange gods are abroad today: Moloch, god of infanticide, drinks the blood of children at your local abortion mill. Mammon, god of greed, is now called redistribution or reparation. Asmodeus, lord of harlots, is now called sexual liberty. Belial to whom impurity, intoxication and wrath are sacred. He is the god of recreational drugs as well as of recreational rioting.

Their idols will not save them. The things thus worshipped have neither eyes to behold nor ears to heed, nor can reach out any hand to save.

The strumpet Fortune, which the seculars adore as the goddess called History — on whose Right Side all victory is born, or so they say — has no power to save. To her they will cry in vain, and the promises of their false prophets, Marx and his Lightworkers, will fall silent in shame, proud tongues numb.

All Men Dream of Earthwomen, Noetic File 8.0 The Sign of the Flying Torch, is now posted.

Noetic File 8.0: The Sign of the Flying Torch

This file contains the oldest canonical description of the First Unearthly Tree, predating the brief passage in Aoetian’s Analects by a vigesimal period, and the dream-sonnet adumbration in the Enchiridion of Vertumnus by a quinquagenarian.

The theme of the earthmadness is subtly expanded upon when the Narrator consults an Archivist of the Order. The Archivist’s dialog here uses the figures of apophasis, proslepsis, and irony.

Those scholars who question the authenticity of the passage based on the delicacy of the figure engage in what is merely the snobbery of the current times, who underestimate their own ancestors. Rather, the irony may be deliberately heavy-handed, meant for comic effect, as when the Archivist denies knowing Amphitricia.

Novena for our Nation

Posted August 18, 2020 By John C Wright

Those among the faithful who make it a habit to pray the rosary, are invited to join in a Novena for our nation. The idea is to pray fifty ‘Hail Mary’ prayers, one for each state, and also to remember our president, congressmen, jurists, and state and local officials.

The Last Crusade 45: The Seven Deadly Sins and Strongholds

Posted August 18, 2020 By John C Wright

I have neglected the Last Crusade of late. The times call me to take up the pen, for it now seems the battle is upon us. The Last Crusade is on.

Here, I mean only to answer through what folly we have been lured to the brink of destruction, and where the main seats of power of the enemy loom. In future columns, which shall the culmination and conclusion of these articles, I will say what overall strategy may be best suited for the long siege to reclaim our legacy. Christendom will rise again.

Our society is deeply corrupt, beyond any human power to cure.

The balm of sweet reason has lured some of the undecided into the camp of the last crusade, the last stand of Western civilization against barbarians without the gate and quislings within. But the quislings themselves have lost of gift of speech, and the barbarians, with scorn, reject it.

The time for talk ended when the arsonists and rioters were aided and abetted by elected officials of the Democrat party. The enemy has entirely corrupted that party: any virtue or dignity they once possessed is long gone. They can no longer be reasoned with; they will no longer abide by the outcome of elections. Armed force alone will cow them.

They are tools and fools of the foe, but they are not the foe. They are our brethren, children of the same loving creator as are we all.

Who is the foe?
