We should heed the warnings of eco-scaremongers with less cynicism if their proposed policies were not counterproductive.
Even if, as has been often debunked, burning petrol contributed to global warming (or global cooling or to climate change or climate stasis or to whatever the fashionable eco-terror of the season might be) logic suggests that burning more oil to power an electrical engine car or hybrid engine car burns more oil than burning less oil to power an internal combustion engine car.
Moreover, no one has ever suggested even a fatuous reason to suggest that to ship oil and natural gas by ship or rail rather than by pipeline somehow preserves or benefits the environment. The opposite would seem to be the case.
