Last Crusade 38: Know Your Enemy

Posted October 29, 2017 By John C Wright

Nothing is less new than the news.

Have you ever wondered why the modern unmarried American woman, who is the most protected, privileged and pampered female ever to be found anywhere in time and space, continually complains about an imaginary Patriarchy, about the male gaze, and about the rape culture in America, but never about any other place, such as the Middle East, where such things exist, and are dangers rather than trivial annoyances?

It seems an insanity, but there is a twisted logic to it. What they are complaining about it not wholly imaginary, and the pain is real.

To trace down the clue, let us look at the most obvious example, and see where the thread leads. Let us look to the news.

If you, dear reader, are perusing the headlines blaring from the newspapers at this same hour when I write, or if, by some unlikely chance, these words are preserved for the next generation, and this paragraph is being scanned by eyes as yet unborn, the news of that distant day and year in this respect will be one and the same as those of this very hour:

Somewhere, a famous and powerful man is abusing his position of authority to cajole, compel, and coerce a lovely young woman into bestowing on him the favors and joys which rightly belong only to the marriage bed. If, in case that future generation has forgotten the marriage bed, I am speaking of sexual pleasures.

Hollywood in your far future day, O reader from years to come, may have been razed to the ground by the Muslims or Feminists, or Communists, or some other manifestation of the Big Brother Anti-Sex League, but if you still have an entertainment industry which allows actresses to be actresses, then you still have a place that rewards pretty young women for being young and pretty.

No matter how many years pass between now and generations to come, certain things remain the same. Human nature, for good and ill, remains the same.

Alt Hero Comics

Posted October 26, 2017 By John C Wright

If you have heard rumors of a new comic line called Alt Hero, first, let me give the link to the Freestarter pledge page: https://freestartr.com/project/althero/

Second, let me explain why it is necessary, timely, if not long overdue.

On the other hand, no. I will let comics simply speak for themselves: Read the remainder of this entry »

Escape from Atheism

Posted October 25, 2017 By John C Wright

A man not named Saint Maximilian Kolbe has been conducting a series of interviews with me about my departure from atheism.

His is not a pro-Christian YouTube Channel, nor is it Christian apologetics. Instead it is a rather more rare bird: a channel dedicated to exploring and exposing the intellectual and philosophical and human shortcomings and self contradictions of the atheist worldview.

Most atheist debates with Christians are in attack mode, with the atheist acting as prosecutor and the Christian treated as the accused on the witness stand.

But if atheism is sound, then it should be able to answer for itself the same kind of questions any other philosophy stands ready to answer: questions of philosophy, of ethics, of rational justification. If atheism is sound, it should be able to take the place of the accused and answer for itself.

This topic is fascinating to me, because I departed from atheism before I converted to theism, and did so without a single supernaturalist theory or thought entering my brain as being possible. I lost my faith in faithlessness months or years before I gained faith in faith.

Just in terms of merely secular logic, the same as would be used to test any theory of scientific, economic, legal or historical reasoning, in other words, just in terms of this world alone and what we know of this world, just in terms of what any atheist must admit is the case, I submit that the theory of atheism does not hang together logically.

Doubt me? You should. Listen and hear whether those doubts are satisfied.

Kolbe and I have agreed to make this a semi-regular discussion, an hour every week. Here are our first three so far:

He needs the audience, so please view, subscribe, comment, and hit notifications.  He has only gotten a few threats of destruction yet, so the Uncle Screwtape and his SJWs have not been sufficiently triggered with him.

So Ridiculous It Was Great

Posted October 23, 2017 By John C Wright

Here below is a review of the first two fifths of LOST ON THE LAST CONTINENT, my free giveaway pulp story. This was written by a charming young fan of mine as a birthday present.

Imagine you are on a hunting trip, chasing a strange and unknown prey, when suddenly the roles are reversed, and YOU are the one being hunted. This is the starting point of the most recent episodic story, Lost on the Last Continent, on the blog of Science Fiction author, John C. Wright. As to be expected from Mr. Wright, there is nothing small about this story, and nothing is quite what it seems.

This being an ongoing story, I can only give a short review on what I think of it so far. So… what DO I think of it so far? I think Preston seriously. Cannot. Catch. A Break!

The poor dude is in a constant state of harm, fighting, or imminent death.

Last Crusade 37: Fighting the Wrong Battle

Posted October 15, 2017 By John C Wright

The Last Crusade, like any other crusade, political movement, or military operation, must have clear strategic goals, not subject to change, and flexible tactics, which change as needed. This crusade promises to be successful where Conservativism has failed and so-called rightwing identity politics is failing, because it recognizes where the real battle is, and what is really at stake.

A Courteous Note about Courtesy in Names

Posted October 10, 2017 By John C Wright

A reader wrote an anxious note to apologize for addressing me by my first name. I fear he was more taken aback by the matter than was I.

Here was my reply, which I care to share with other readers, lest the same undue anxiety light upon any. Read the remainder of this entry »

The Last Crusade: Be Holy, for I am Holy

FCF: Because we have a sin nature, only God can make us holy.

God commands, “Be Holy for I am Holy” in both the Old (Leviticus 11:44, 45) and New Testaments (1 Peter 1:13-16). He repeats it several times in Leviticus. If God says something once, we know to listen. If he repeats it, we know it is important. The question then becomes, what is holiness and how do we attain it?

Our first parents had one rule, and they broke it. “Don’t eat from this specific tree.” But it wasn’t just them. Every person after that has managed to break God’s laws. These sins separate us from God and require Him to restore the relationship. But sin has damaged us at that point. We’re even born with a sin nature because of their actions. Even beyond the original sin passed down from parent to child, we make choices to break God’s laws.

Speculations on the Last Continent

Posted October 6, 2017 By John C Wright

An eagle eyed reader of Lost on the Last Continent offers the following speculation. In the most recent episode Colonel Lost meets, fights, and speaks to a young druzhinnik from a mythical lost city in medieval Russia.

One reader somewhat cryptically remarked that there was an astonishingly short gap of time between them. Another offered this clarification:

100 million years in the future or something, yet come from time periods only a few centuries apart. Clearly the future men weren’t randomly sampling time periods from which to abduct people, but must have specifically targeted the first few millennia AD.

In order to encourage speculation (what greater flattery can any story receive but to have readers puzzle over it?) your humble author would like to offer additional information from my notes not necessary obvious in the text.

The text gives only what Colonel Lost sees and knows, and he cannot tell at a glance necessarily from what year a man hails.
