Recall Governor Northam

Petition for the Recall of Governor Ralph Northam

Today we are faced with the possible destruction of our God given and constitutionally protected rights in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

But we are not going to back down, we are not going to quietly submit, and instead fight back using every means at our disposal.

The Virginia State Constitution provides a means to recall an elected official, even the Governor, for a trial in the Circuit Court, determining if the official has violated their oath of office.

The Virginia State Constitution is very clear, in Article 13 it states-

‘That a well regulated militia, composed of the body of the people, trained to arms, is the proper, natural, and safe defense of a free state, therefore, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed; that standing armies, in time of peace, should be avoided as dangerous to liberty; and that in all cases the military should be under strict subordination to, and governed by, the civil power.’

In his efforts to disarm law abiding citizens, Governor ‘Radical Ralph’ Northam has clearly violated his oath of office.

We need 405,000 signatures to enact the recall procedure, so we desperately need your help to reach that number.

If you are not willing to submit to tyranny in the state that secured our liberty, you need to act today!

Please sign the petition below and share it with all of your friends.

Amazons are as Mythical as Centaurs III

Posted January 21, 2020 By John C Wright

Continuation of a previous rant.

Andrew Klavan, international best selling author and Edgar Award Winner, wit, pundit, and man of letters, criticized a television show for portraying a female swordsman in a medieval-flavored fantasy show as being able to combat trained soldiers, when, in real life, a woman in pitched battle with a sword against a man would lose one hundred percent of the time.

Prayer Request

Posted January 20, 2020 By John C Wright

A reader writes to ask:

About a week ago my aunt choked on her food and lost consciousness for a good amount of time before getting to the hospital. She’s in the ICU with stable vitals but it’s unknown whether she suffered any brain damage from lack of oxygen. I am requesting prayers for my aunt’s recovery.

Not Tired of Winning XCVIII — Premature Hope

Posted January 20, 2020 By John C Wright

This is not actually a win, yet, but it is a good sign. So this is merely a hope, perhaps premature, that sanity might return to the sporting world.

From Breitbart:

Transgender

Florida Republican Rep. Greg Steube has introduced a bill which aims to ensure that women and girls sports remain a fair playing field by prohibiting the use of federal funds to support any athletic event where a biological male identifying as a woman attempts to compete against biological female athletes.

The “Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act” (H. R. 5603), was introduced this month to protect women and girls in competitive sports.

“With the House passage of H.R. 5 earlier this Congress, women and girls participating in competitive sports across the country are at risk of losing the equal playing field they were guaranteed by the Education Amendments of 1972,” Congressman Steube said in his January 14 press release. “We must protect our female athletes from being forced to compete against biological male athletes in competitive sports.”

The bill would require terms for gender in Title IX spending to be defined as that “determined by a physician at birth” instead of by a person seeking to “identify” as a gender.

Am I the only one who finds that picture really disturbing?

Meanwhile, in a related story, Andrew Klavan, international best selling author and Edgar Award Winner, wit, pundit, and man of letters, criticized a television show for portraying a female swordsman in a medieval-flavored fantasy show as being able to combat trained soldiers, when, in real life, a woman in pitched battle with a sword against a man would lose one hundred percent of the time.

And all the crazies went crazy. But perhaps that is a column for another time.

Lament for Prometheus at NUMBER ONE

Posted January 20, 2020 By John C Wright

I must admit I uttered a chuckle at this.

My latest book is number one in Science Fiction History & Criticism for today. Sort of like winning a participation trophy for being the best at participation! But it told me I had sold at least a book or two.

It may be a small accomplishment in the grand scheme of things, but my gratitude toward my beloved patrons is not small.

YouTube Removes Livestreams of Richmond Gun-Rights Rally

Posted January 20, 2020 By John C Wright

I have no comment to make.

https://pjmedia.com/trending/youtube-removes-livestreams-of-richmond-gun-rights-rally/

As thousands of Second Amendment protesters flocked to the Virginia State Capitol in Richmond on Monday, YouTube livestreams of the protest started freezing or getting flat-out removed from the video platform.

“This video has been removed for violating YouTube’s community guidelines,” YouTube explained after taking down live coverage of the gun rights rally from WUSA9, a news channel in the Washington, D.C. area. The WUSA9 coverage repeatedly stopped and then resumed, with this message repeating every time the video stopped.

Whatever your position on gun rights, media outlets should be able to cover a Second Amendment rally without getting blocked by YouTube. Carrying guns is not an illegal activity and protests like this should not be censored.

The Lament of Prometheus

The Lament of Prometheus: An Examination of David Lindsay’s A Voyage to Arcturus

Finally, available on Amazon is a work of literary criticism I have been waiting for 13 years to publish. Now it is here.

See The Lament of Prometheus on Amazon

Here is the description of the book:

Lament of Prometheus in a nonfiction work in which award-winning science fiction Grandmaster John C. Wright in sets out to explain the inexplicable: A Voyage to Arcturus written in 1920 by Scottish author David Lindsay, is a fascinating, blasphemous, and magnificent failure.

Wright sets out to explore the weird, wild, wonderful world depicted in Lindsay’s forgotten masterpiece, to plumb its depths, decode its symbols, discover its secrets, and identify its breathtaking literary disappointment.

No other author else has dared such simply striking, mind-stretching, awe-inspiring, sublime absurdities as David Lindsay. From the description of new sense impressions to the depiction of unimaginable new primary colors, to the invention of a third positive sex unknown on earth, Lindsay challenges the reader to imagine the unimaginable.

Literary luminaries such as Gary Wolfe and Colin Wilson were fascinated by this blasphemous book, as was Michael Moorcock. In his sole attempt at fiction writing, the world-famous critic Harold Bloom attempted a sequel.

C.S. Lewis list it as his inspiration to write science fiction:

“From Lindsay I first learned what other planets in fiction are really good for: for spiritual adventures. Only they can satisfy the craving which sends our imaginations off the earth.”

It is the tale of a Englishman named Maskull, an everyman figure, transported via the occult means of backward light-rays to the giant planet Tormance circling the double star Arcturus, seeking a godlike but hidden figure named Surtur, who may be the devil, or the divine fire hidden in every man.

John C Wright makes an attempt as bold as Maskull to follow in his unearthly footfalls, to examine sheer weirdness of the conceit; the symbolism and philosophy; and to name rightly what David Lindsay hid under onion layers of riddles: a striking yet morbid message.

A Personal Note:

Long have I awaited this day. Originally this analysis was written only for my own edification, to clarify and focus my own meditations on this odd and mesmeric work.

The tell grew in the telling, as they say, and when the column grew to book length, I decided it was worthy of being sold, despite the obscurity of the subject matter.

Not Tired of Winning XCVII

Posted January 17, 2020 By John C Wright

Behold, one more lovely victory which would have been unimaginable without Donald Trump.

Consider the following headlines:

  • Federal Appeals Panel Rejects Transgender Pronouns
  • Trump Judge Lashes Out at A Transgender Litigant In a Surprisingly Cruel Opinion

Both are meant to convey the facts about an event. Only one is corrupting the language.

This is painfully ironic, since the case concerned whether or not the law could be used as an instrument to force free men to corrupt their own language, and aid their own destroyers.

Thankfully, the case was properly decided. The days of christmassless winter are numbered. Aslan is on the move.

From Dailywire

On Wednesday, a divided panel of the New Orleans-based U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit ruled, in 2–1 fashion, that a transgender litigant — a biological male who suffers from gender dysphoria and subjectively feels that he is a female — cannot require a court to address him using female pronouns.

The case, U.S. v. Varner, pitted Reagan nominee Judge Jerry E. Smith and Trump nominee Judge S. Kyle Duncan in the panel majority, against Clinton nominee Judge James L. Dennis as the lone dissenter. What made the opinion particularly fascinating was that Duncan’s majority opinion used male pronouns, whereas Dennis’ dissent used female pronouns.

The Cost of Correctness

Posted January 16, 2020 By John C Wright

Political Correctness is communal falsehood. It is fascism disguised as politeness. Such public falsehood requires elaborate effort to maintain, and requires the mind treat illusions as real, and reality as illusionary. Those so bewitched will flinch at the claws of kittens, but perish petting a grizzly.

The cost is high.

Quote of the Day:

Strange pleasures are known to him who flaunts the
immarcescible purple of poetry before the color-blind.

Word of the Day:

Immarcescible (rare): Permanent, enduring, imperishable.

The Iron Triangle by Vince Ellison

Posted January 14, 2020 By John C Wright

In an earlier column, I spoke of the Matrix-style 360 degree holodeck illusion projected by the Morlock Left around the minds of their Eloi victims. Everyone fooled by the Left is fooled by every authority they meet, every speech and sermon they hear, from school, church, television, radio, cinema.

With admirable party discipline and dead-eyed robotlike uniformity of goodthink, the propagandists, con men, and Judas goats of the Left, utter the same slogans, buzz words, platitudes, and vaporous jabberwocky in the same way, with the same message.

I predicted that when the illusion is broken, it will be broken rapidly. It will shatter like glass rather than erode like a sea cliff. It will fall like the Soviet Union, over days, not like the Roman Empire, over centuries.

I also predict Hell to pay.
