Iron Man Girl

Posted May 11, 2021 By John C Wright

Joe Biden stealing the election was bad. Is this news worse? I cannot say. All the lamps of civilization are going out.

Rumored last yearIronheart was later confirmed to become a Disney+ series at Disney’s Investor Day presentation, even going so far as to announced Dominique Thorne as the titular character. This both excited and surprised many fans, especially due to the young actress being a newcomer with only two credits to her name.

In February, Dominique Thorne had spoken about how Marvel Studios approached her to portray Riri Willaims in Ironheart. In a new interview, Thorne further clarifies that she didn’t even need to audition for the leading role when she was offered it.

Book of Feasts and Seasons Audio

Posted May 10, 2021 By John C Wright

For Immediate Purchase!

The Book of Feasts & Seasons is a beautifully mind-bending stroll with a grandmaster of science fiction through the annual Catholic calendar. Over the course of the year, from January to December, the author takes his inspiration from 10 different holidays and explores their meanings in a series of stories of marvelous imagination.

John C. Wright is is also a devout Catholic and devoted philosopher who regards reason as an intrinsic aspect of his faith.

The Book of Feasts & Seasons is an imaginative embodiment of that faith, taking many different shapes and forms throughout the vast expanse of God’s creation.

The Big Lie Illustrated Version

Posted May 9, 2021 By John C Wright

Rather than, yet again, writing up a thousand words about the blatant absurdities that surrounded the 2020 Election Fraud, known hereafter as the Big Lie of 2020, let us employ a single picture:

The Big Lie

Posted May 7, 2021 By John C Wright

For the record, I am perfectly willing to use the phrase “The Big Lie” on this website, to refer to the fraud and coverup surrounding the 2020 election, as President Trump requests.

His latest comments:

The Federal Election Commission in Washington, D.C., has totally dropped the phony case against me concerning payments to women relative to the 2016 Presidential Election. It was a case built on lies from Michael Cohen, a corrupt and convicted lawyer, a lawyer in fact who was so corrupt he was sentenced to three years in jail for lying to Congress and many other things having nothing to do with me. I thank the Commission for their decision, ending this chapter of Fake News. Between two sleazebag lawyers, Michael Avenatti and Michael Cohen, we were all able to witness law and justice in our Country at its lowest!

The Fake News Media, working in close conjunction with Big Tech and the Radical Left Democrats, is doing everything they can to perpetuate the term “The Big Lie” when speaking of 2020 Presidential Election Fraud. They are right in that the 2020 Presidential Election was a Big Lie, but not in the way they mean. The 2020 Election, which didn’t even have Legislative approvals from many States (which is required under the U.S. Constitution), and was also otherwise corrupt, was indeed The Big Lie. So when they try to sell the American people the term The Big Lie, which they do in unison and coordination, think of it instead as the greatest Fraud in the history of our Country! An even greater Hoax than Russia, Russia, Russia, Mueller, Mueller, Mueller, Impeachment Hoax #1, Impeachment Hoax #2, or any of the other many scams the Democrats pulled!

The Theological Basis of Science Fiction and Fantasy

Posted May 6, 2021 By John C Wright

These are the notes that formed the basis of the talk given Saturday October 4th 2014 at Christendom College, St John the Evangelist Library, reprinted here as a convenience for my readers.

The Theological Basis of Science Fiction and Fantasy

It is always fitting at the beginning of any speculative enterprise to state the position one supports and to define one’s terms.

It is particularly fitting at the beginning of this particular talk, since the spirit of the modern world is very much opposed to defining one’s terms or stating one’s position too clearly, and opposition to that spirit is one of the themes this talk will address.

The subject of this talk is the theology of science fiction and fantasy stories.

An alert student will notice immediately that, technically speaking, there is no subject to this subject matter. There is no such thing as the theology of science fiction. Theology is reasoning about divine things; even the finest science fiction stories hardly fit into that category, much as fans like me idolize them.

So I am arguing that there is no theology in science fiction, but there is something like it. Read the remainder of this entry »

Forgotten Causes, 08 Rescue Operation

Posted May 5, 2021 By John C Wright

Forgotten Causes, 08 Rescue Operation, is now posted.

Forgotten Causes

You got to try to rescue the girl, at least try, even if she might be a robot. Even if it does not work.

Not everyone gets a happy ending. You try.

Vive la France Vive le Liberté

Posted May 3, 2021 By John C Wright

The French are a strange people, if frank. They are something like Englishmen, but more continental in their élan. They have a certain je ne sais quois, but I don’t know what it is.

There are closed captions available for those of you whose French is as rusty as mine:

On the Unity of God

Posted May 3, 2021 By John C Wright

A reader asked me for my ruminations on the question of whether God was one or many, or how one knows that the God we worship is not the creature of some deeper and more hidden god, unknown to us.

I will here give a brief summary of the reasoning behind the argument for the unity of God. This is a brief summary only: whole volumes could (and have) been written to examine each step involved.

Let us start with the self-evident proposition that nothing comes from nothing.
