Marymae Lives!

Posted October 21, 2020 By Mrs. Wright

Jagi, here.  Some years ago, I received a fan letter from a charming 15 year old, whom you have all come to know as John’s dancing fangirl and some of you know as the dancing cow or as a writer of quality short stories: A. M. Freeman. Back when she was still a teen, she sent me a story she had written. Today, that story–buffed and polished–goes live, complete with lovely illustrations.

Presenting:

Marymae is a little girl with big problems! First, no one will believe her imaginary friend is real…

And then he goes missing!

Marymae must set out to find her friend. But she soon discovers something scary is happening in the Forest of Make-Believe. Those that were noble are now hiding. Dangerous creatures lurk in the shadows. And a growing darkness threatens to engulf even the bravest heart. If Marymae and her friends can’t stop it in time, the nightmares will spread across all the worlds, including her own! Enjoy the journey with her as she discovers how to be a light to inspire courage in those around her, and how to love even the most broken heart.

Pick up this illustrated novelette and join the characters on their journey as they spring from one challenge to the next. A refreshing light to illuminate a mundane day, or to enjoy reading with your children.

See Marymae and the Nightmare Man on Amazon

And here is an article that she wrote for Evangelizing Fandom. Unfortunately, she couldn’t really discuss the part of the story I found most satisfying from a Christian perspective, because it was a major spoiler, so I will just say, the solution to Marymae’s troubles are not as simple as a non-Christian might imagine.  ;-)

For the Lovely and Talented Wife

Posted September 25, 2020 By Mrs. Wright

Today is a signal boost for The Unexpected Enlightenment of Rachel Griffin. The ebook is FREE on Amazon and at Silver Empire.

Roanoke Academy for the Sorcerous Arts – A magic school like no other!

Nestled amidst the beauty of New York’s Hudson Highlands and hidden from the eyes of the Unwary, Roanoke Academy is a place of magic and wonder. It offers everything a young sorceress could desire—enchantments, flying brooms, and the promise of new friendships.

On her first day of school, Rachel Griffin discovers her perfect memory gives her an unexpected advantage. With it, she can see through the spell sorcerers use to hide their secrets. Very soon, she discovers that there is a far-vaster secret world hiding from the Wise, precisely the same way that the magical folk hide from the mundane folk.

When someone tries to kill a fellow student, she investigates. Rushing forward where others fear to tread, Rachel bravely faces wraiths, embarrassing magical pranks, mysterious older boys, a Raven that brings the doom of worlds, and at least one fire-breathing teacher.

Described by fans as: “Lovecraft meets Narnia at Hogwarts”, The Unexpected Enlightenment of Rachel Griffin is a tale of wonder and danger, romance and heartbreak, and, most of all, of magic and of a girl who refuses to be daunted.

Curiosity may kill a cat, but nothing stops Rachel Griffin!

“Lamplighter introduces many imaginative elements in her world that will delight…” VOYA

Fantastic Schools, Volume One!

Posted July 7, 2020 By Mrs. Wright

Jagi, here:

After a tremendous struggle with Amazon, Fantastic Schools, Volume One is now LIVE — on paper and Kindle.

Chris Nuttall and I are the editors on this book, which contains, among other excellent stories, a Roanoke Academy story, staring Topher Evans (one of Dread’s Crew) written by Erin N. H. Furby. It also has a story by Frank Luke, who is a reader of this blog.

Have you ever wanted to go to magic school? To cast spells and brew potions and fly on broomsticks and—perhaps—battle threats both common and supernatural? Come with us into worlds of magic, where students become magicians and teachers do everything in their power to ensure the kids survive long enough to graduate. Welcome to … Fantastic Schools.

Follow a girl trying desperately to find her place in a school of dark magic, a band of witches desperate to prove they can be as good as the wizards, a school of magical monsters standing between the evil one and ultimate power, a businesswoman discovering the secrets of darkest evil … and what happens when a magical education goes badly wrong.

Follow us into worlds different, magical …

Includes stories by: Mel Lee Newmin, Emily Martha Sorensen, Aaron Van Treeck, Steven G. Johnson, George Phillies, Thomas K. Carpenter, Benjamin Wheeler, Frank B. Luke, G. Scott Huggins, Bernadette Durbin, Roger D. Strahan, Erin N.H. Furby, Denton Salle, and a Schooled In Magic novella (revealing the backstory of a major character) by Christopher G. Nuttall

Fantastic Schools, Volume One on Amazon — ebookpaper.

Mary’s Shelter Virtual Soiree Tonight

Posted May 8, 2020 By Mrs. Wright

Jagi, here:

One of the highlights of the year for John and I is the speeches we hear at the Mary’s Shelter Soiree. This year, the Soiree is going virtual, and I just found out that it is tonight!

Mary’s Shelter Virtual Soiree Registration (It’s free.)

Mary’s Shelter is the “Pro-Choice” folks keep saying they want. Mary’s Shelter takes in pregnant women. It helps them have their babies, and it allows them to live there for up to THREE YEARS while going to school and finding a job. Also, it is one of the few charities that accepts women who already have children.

Mary’s Shelter is in Fredericksburg, VA, but the concept is now spreading across the country.

This is a fantastic charity, and, tonight, the wonderful speeches and stories they share at their fundraising soiree are available for anyone who wants to register.

Really worth the time.
