From the Daily Wire:

Newly released transcripts from House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff’s (D-CA) closed door Russia investigation hearings show that former Obama officials and Schiff appeared to know that there was little to no evidence that the Trump campaign colluded with Russian officials during the 2016 election.

From Reason magazine:

On Wednesday, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos formally announced the new rules related to Title IX—the federal statute that governs sexual misconduct in schools…

… the new rules narrow the scope of actionable sexual harassment to exclude conduct that ought to be protected under the First Amendment.

For those of you unfamiliar with a document called the US Constitution, it reads, in part:

[The President] may, on extraordinary Occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in Case of Disagreement between them, with Respect to the Time of Adjournment, he may adjourn them to such Time as he shall think proper

Presidents have the power under the U.S. Constitution to fill vacancies while the Senate is out of session, but the Senate can hold what are called “pro forma” sessions in order to remain technically in session, even though no one is present and no business takes place, thus blocking recess appointments.

Trump wants to use the recess clause to fill vacancies in executive agencies that have been largely neglected, allegedly due to Democrat malfeasance, hoping that if he cannot fill his cabinet and other top posts, his administration will fail.

Trump says:

“If the House will not agree to that adjournment I will exercise my constitutional authority to adjourn both chambers of Congress. The current practice of leaving town while conducting phony pro forma sessions is a dereliction of duty that the American people cannot afford during this crisis.”

My comment: Unlike Obama, who tried to make recess appointments when the Senate was in session, Trump here is acting entirely within the letter of the law. Indeed, he is the only president in my lifetime to do so. After so many lawless presidents, it is a great and deep relief to me to see one who actually respects the letter of the law and abides by it, but who is not foolish enough not to know how to use it advantageously when need be.

And the Obama partisans, whose master was too foolish and too lawless to do anything like this, and was slapped down harshly by the Supreme Court, sputter and vomit and can do nothing.

No, I am indeed not tired of winning yet.

Hat tip to New Number Two:

Trump Halts Funding to WHO Pending Review of Agency’s Handling of Coronavirus Pandemic

President Trump on Tuesday announced he would halt U.S. funding to the World Health Organization pending a review of its handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Today I’m instructing my administration to halt funding of the WHO while a review is conducted to assess the WHO’s role in severely mismanaging and covering up the spread of the coronavirus,” Trump said at a White House press briefing. “The WHO failed in this basic duty and must be held accountable.”

It was not immediately clear if the order will cover all or part of U.S. government funding of the organization. The U.S. contributes over $400 million to the WHO every year, or 15 percent of the agency’s annual budget. (China funds 0.2 percent of the WHO’s budget.)

“The silence of the WHO on the disappearance of scientific researchers and doctors, and new restrictions on the sharing of research into the origins of COVID-19 in the country of origin is deeply concerning. Especially when we put up by far the largest amount of money,” Trump said. Over the weekend China mandated that research papers on the origin of the coronavirus must be approved by the state before publication.

Trump further assailed the agency’s criticism of travel restrictions the president imposed in January on travelers who had passed through China.

“The WHO’s attack on travel restrictions put political correctness above life-saving measures,” Trump said.

The president has previously indicated he would consider cutting U.S. funding to the WHO entirely. The agency has also come under fire from U.S. lawmakers for allegedly whitewashing Chinese government mismanagement of the coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan, which has since spread into a pandemic.

Taiwan in March accused the WHO of failing to publish early warnings from Taiwanese medical officials that the coronavirus could be spread via human-to-human transmission. China, which does not recognize Taiwan as an independent country, does not permit the WHO to accept Taiwan as a member state

The Inspector General’s report finds that the Russian government colluded in 2016 with the Clinton campaign, not with the Trump campaign.

The vindication of the Trump Administration has begun.

Let us pray that the evildoers behind this, no matter what positions of power in the previous administration they held, or who her husband was, or what his skin hue is,  suffer the penalties allowed by the full rigor of the law for this abuse of power.

A story in the World Tribune: gives the details:

Newly declassified footnotes from the Department of Justice inspector general’s report on FBI FISA abuses officially confirm that the Christopher Steele dossier was based in part on Russian disinformation, two Republican senators revealed.

In 2016, ‘there were ties between Russian intelligence and a presidential campaign — the Clinton campaign, not Trump’s.’

Republican Sens. Charles Grassley of Iowa and Ron Johnson of Wisconsin said the footnotes in DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s report show the Democratic Party and the Clinton campaign were actively responsible for spreading Russian disinformation contained in Steele’s bogus dossier. The FBI used the dossier as key evidence to justify spying on the 2016 Trump campaign.

“These footnotes confirm that there was a direct Russian disinformation campaign in 2016, and there were ties between Russian intelligence and a presidential campaign — the Clinton campaign, not Trump’s,” The Washington Times cited Grassley and Johnson as saying.

Johnson and Grassley said the FBI knew it had contradictory and exculpatory evidence, but engaged in “blind pursuit” of President Donald Trump.

Let us compare the proposed Democrat tactics to stop the spread of the China Flu with what the Trump Administration is doing and has done, shall we?

I shall make my comment at the outset, since this list is so long. Thank God grown ups are in charge of the White House. Can you imagine what a boondoggle would have happened had Hillary “Benghazi” Clinton, been in charge?

Making Federal Buildings Beautiful Again

From Summit News

The White House is reportedly preparing an executive order that would direct all new federal buildings to be built in the classical architectural style.

The Architectural Record has obtained a preliminary draft of the order, entitled ‘Making Federal Buildings Beautiful Again’, under which “the White House would require rewriting the Guiding Principles for Federal Architecture, issued in 1962, to ensure that “the classical architectural style shall be the preferred and default style” for new and upgraded federal buildings.

Technically, this is due to the common sense and sense of fairplay for which the subjects of Her Majesty the Queen have always been justly lauded, particularly those voters in the north country, coal miners and manual laborers, who realized that the Labor Party had betrayed their interests and hated their nation, and generally despised them.

Nonetheless I list it here as a victory for Trump, since the same wind fills his sails as theirs.

Not Tired of Winning XCVIII — Premature Hope

Posted January 20, 2020 By John C Wright

This is not actually a win, yet, but it is a good sign. So this is merely a hope, perhaps premature, that sanity might return to the sporting world.

From Breitbart:

Transgender

Florida Republican Rep. Greg Steube has introduced a bill which aims to ensure that women and girls sports remain a fair playing field by prohibiting the use of federal funds to support any athletic event where a biological male identifying as a woman attempts to compete against biological female athletes.

The “Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act” (H. R. 5603), was introduced this month to protect women and girls in competitive sports.

“With the House passage of H.R. 5 earlier this Congress, women and girls participating in competitive sports across the country are at risk of losing the equal playing field they were guaranteed by the Education Amendments of 1972,” Congressman Steube said in his January 14 press release. “We must protect our female athletes from being forced to compete against biological male athletes in competitive sports.”

The bill would require terms for gender in Title IX spending to be defined as that “determined by a physician at birth” instead of by a person seeking to “identify” as a gender.

Am I the only one who finds that picture really disturbing?

Meanwhile, in a related story, Andrew Klavan, international best selling author and Edgar Award Winner, wit, pundit, and man of letters, criticized a television show for portraying a female swordsman in a medieval-flavored fantasy show as being able to combat trained soldiers, when, in real life, a woman in pitched battle with a sword against a man would lose one hundred percent of the time.

And all the crazies went crazy. But perhaps that is a column for another time.
