Not Tired of Winning Yet IV

Posted January 25, 2017 By John C Wright

Do you remember all the absurd, foolish, brainless naysayers claiming that Trump would not or could not build the wall along the Mexican border?

I never understood the cause for skepticism. It is a simple engineering task and Congress has already authorized it. The White House need negotiate nothing and there is no negative political fallout to fear: it is merely enforcing already existing law. Trump is a man who builds hotels, golf courses, etc. for a living. Of all campaign promises, it is the easiest to fulfill and the one least likely to be hindered by opposition or unexpected events.

Well, my dear skeptics, he is doing it. And it is only Wednesday.

This is from the fake news service of the Washington Post, where operatives for the Democrat Party type up party propaganda for a gullible but shrinking audience whose mouths gape like hungry chicks in a nest for what the mother bird will barf into them.

President Trump plans to sign executive orders Wednesday enabling construction of his proposed wall on the U.S.-Mexico border and targeting cities where local leaders refuse to hand over illegal immigrants for deportation, according to White House officials familiar with the decisions.

The actions, part of a multi-day focus on immigration, are among an array of sweeping and immediate changes to the nation’s immigration system under consideration by the new president. The moves represent Trump’s first effort to deliver on perhaps the signature issue that drove his presidential campaign…

Not Tired of Winning Yet III

From the Fake News service of PBS. This list repeats items mentioned in my previous columns, but I thought it worth emphasizing to my conservative friends who are still stuck on the Never Trump setting. I am hoping some of their (admittedly justified) suspicions may start to ebb:

All the Muslim gear that Husseyn Obama, or Osama, or whatever the name of the last President was, has been removed from the White House.

https://therepublicannews.net/2017/01/23/trump-orders-removal-of-islamic-symbols-practices-in-the-white-house/

I do not believe Barack Osama was actually a practicing Mohammedan. But I believe the ersatz religion known as Leftism hates Christianity and embraces any foe of Christianity. Communism was the greatest foe before the Fall of the Berlin Wall, and Mohammedanism is the greatest foe now.

UPDATE: This came from a satire website, and fooled me. I will leave it here as a testament to the fact that even Homer nods, and a warning that skepticism toward one’s own side is never out of fashion.

The Key to the Left

Posted January 25, 2017 By John C Wright

Great truths need few words to say them:

Here is the secret to Leftwing psychology. The men among them think, not like women, but like neurotic women gripped in self loathing. They hate themselves, so they hate being women, so they hate babies and the whole process of reproduction. They hate themselves, so they hate motherhood and murder unborn babies. They hate themselves, so they hate the policeman and the soldier who protects their lives. They hate themselves, so they want recreational drugs to be legal, not to mention assisted suicide. They hate themselves, so they hate their nation which has bestowed absurd amounts of freedom and luxury upon them.

They hate themselves, so they hate the God who made them.

The Keystone Pipeline has been revived.

http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2017/01/24/keystone-xl-returns-americans-finished-paying-green-symbolism/

Abandoning Keystone was one of countless sacrifices Americans have been forced to make to the Church of Global Warming. It’s interesting to note how the anti-Keystone case was made largely on safety grounds during the previous administration’s long delay of the project, but today climate change is the most widely cited objection to the project in media reports.

For example, the New York Times wrote on Tuesday, “Studies showed that the pipeline would not have a momentous impact on jobs or the environment, but both sides made it into a symbolic test case of American willingness to promote energy production or curb its appetites to heal the planet.”

Even a former head of the State Department’s energy bureau under Obama, David Goldwyn, told the Times that Keystone “has never been a significant issue from an environmental point of view in substance, only in symbol.” The rest of us are tired of footing the bill for environmentalist symbolism.

Obama’s action was seen at the time as “strengthening his hand” for what proved to be utterly worthless climate talks in Paris. The American people are thoroughly sick and tired of sacrificing their prosperity so left-wing leaders can act like big shots at luxuriously catered climate conferences.

They’re also tired of making sacrifices so environmental groups can feel good about themselves, a theme that comes up repeatedly in discussions of Keystone XL over the years. Pipelines are safer than any other means of transporting oil; the network Keystone XL will plug into has been running just fine for a long time. The amount of oil it will move is significant, but hardly enough to figure in any credible argument about the fate of the planetary environment.

The Lester Dent Pulp Paper Master Fiction Plot

“No yarn of mine written to the formula has yet failed to sell.”

There are people who object to formula fiction. Myself, I like formula fiction mucn better than experimental fiction, because the formula at least means the story will be workmanlike. Some complain formulas make yarns too predictable. But that is like saying the recipe for cheesecake is predictable: depends on how well the cook uses the recipe, does it not?

Here’s the formula used by Lester Dent. He is the author who wrote roughly a zillion DOC SAVAGE novellas, and sold what he wrote. There are surely worse men from whom to take writing advice.

A Pilgrim Stranger in Need of Aid

Posted January 23, 2017 By John C Wright

A reader writes and asks for help finding reviews:

I must make this small request of you. A writer whose works I very much enjoy, one Mark Samuels, recently self-published a novel with a Traditionalist Catholic theme. This is its blurb:
“Alfredo Salgado, Catholic schoolboy and proud Spaniard, wages his own personal offensive against the dictates of modernity and the ‘proglodyte’ enemies of Orthodoxy and the Old Faith.
Set in 1981 and 2015 against a backdrop of societal upheaval A PILGRIM STRANGER is an ebullient satire of contemporary values.”
Problem is that Mr. Samuels published only works of weird and horror fiction before, and unfortunately neither some of his peers in that field nor a good chunk of his readership are exactly enamored with his religious and political stances. In fact, he received a fair share of bile in the past.
In order to try and promote his novel, he made the following offer on his blog:
So, I must ask of you, if you know any of your fans or online acquaintances with some time to spare on reading and reviewing the man’s novel, please send this link to them.
It is not any sort of minor or novice writer that I try to promote here. Mr. Samuels’s work is highly praised in his field and his stories are oft reprinted.
His novel deserves at least this smallest of chances to find some sort of audience. as it shan’t find any among nihilist, anti-Christian readers of horror fiction who make the bulk of his existing readership.
I hope that I don’t presume overmuch by making this request of you.

Any takers?

A thought for today touching the Last Crusade:

There is no man, let him be aware of it or not, who is not a combatant in this hot contest; no one who does not take an active part in the responsibility of the defeat or victory. The prisoner in his chains and the king on his throne, the poor and the rich, the healthy and the infirm, the wise and the ignorant, the captive and the free, the old man and the child, the civilized and the savage, share equally in the combat. Every word that is pronounced, is either inspired by God or by the world, and necessarily proclaims, implicitly or explicitly, but always clearly, the glory of the one or the triumph of the other. In this singular warfare we all fight through forced enlistment; here the system of substitutes or volunteers finds no place. In it is unknown the exception of sex or age; here no attention is paid to him who says, I am the son of a poor widow; nor to the mother of the paralytic, nor to the wife of the cripple. In this warfare all men born of woman are soldiers.

And don’t tell me you don’t wish to fight; for the moment you tell me that, you are already fighting; nor that you don’t know which side to join, for while you are saying that, you have already joined a side; nor that you wish to remain neutral; for while you are thinking to be so, you are so no longer; nor that you want to be indifferent; for I will laugh at you, because on pronouncing that word you have chosen your party. Don’t tire yourself in seeking a place of security against the chances of war, for you tire yourself in vain; that war is extended as far as space, and prolonged through all time. In eternity alone, the country of the just, can you find rest, because there alone there is no combat. But do not imagine, however, that the gates of eternity shall be opened for you, unless you first show the wounds you bear; those gates are only opened for those who gloriously fought here the battles of the Lord, and were, like the Lord, crucified.

I pass this along without comment. I smile, but I need say nothing.

From the Spectator
(http://blogs.spectator.co.uk/2017/01/trump-how-did-this-happen/):

“TRUMP! HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?”

It happened because you banned super-size sodas. And smoking in parks. And offensive ideas on campus. Because you branded people who oppose gay marriage ‘homophobic’, and people unsure about immigration ‘racist’.

Because you treated owning a gun and never having eaten quinoa as signifiers of fascism. Because you thought correcting people’s attitudes was more important than finding them jobs. Because you turned ‘white man’ from a description into an insult. Because you used slurs like ‘denier’ and ‘dangerous’ against anyone who doesn’t share your eco-pieties.

Because you treated dissent as hate speech and criticism of Obama as extremism. Because you talked more about gender-neutral toilets than about home repossessions. Because you beatified Caitlyn Jenner. Because you policed people’s language, rubbished their parenting skills, took the piss out of their beliefs.

Because you cried when someone mocked the Koran but laughed when they mocked the Bible. Because you said criticising Islam is Islamophobia. Because you kept telling people, ‘You can’t think that, you can’t say that, you can’t do that.’

Because you turned politics from something done by and for people to something done to them, for their own good. Because you treated people like trash. And people don’t like being treated like trash. Trump happened because of you.

The Last Crusade 01 (Guest): The Voice in the Black Room

Posted January 22, 2017 By John C Wright

One who had volunteered to be a knight in the Last Crusade sends the following meditation on the battle before us. As an homage to one of my books, he places words in the dialog of Gilberec Moth, who is the fictional Last Crusader that inspired the reality which either you and I, dear reader, will bring forth, (or, if we fail, heaven haply will select another to save the people, but it will not go well with us).

Naturally, I have no objection to his borrowing from me, as I have borrowed wholesale from G.K. Chesterton, who introduced the name and purpose of the Last Crusade in a book called THE MAN WHO WAS THURSDAY.

I thought the following list of particulars to be an apt introduction to a planned series of columns outlining the need, the philosophy, the vision, and tactics of the Last Crusade.

Inequality and Antichrist

Posted January 21, 2017 By John C Wright

Once Christianity was privatized, hence eliminated as a public and social force in the law, the rise of a secular religion called Leftism or Liberalism to replace it was inevitable.

It was inevitable because a vacuum of opinion on metaphysical matters is as impossible as erecting a mathematics without axioms. Without Christian metaphysics, first assumptions of secular metaphysics govern society.

Hence, in the modern period, the first assumptions of secularism entered into all the areas, hospitals, universities, family law, and public charities, which once had been controlled by canon law, and administered by the Church.

Inauguration Speech

Posted January 20, 2017 By John C Wright

President Trump spoke these words to cheering crowds while President and Mrs. Clinton and President and Mrs. Obama stood by, listening to all their evil or foolish dreams of de-Americanizing America go up in smoke.

Chief Justice Roberts, President Carter, President Clinton, President Bush, President Obama, fellow Americans and people of the world, thank you.

We, the citizens of America, are now joined in a great national effort to rebuild our country and restore its promise for all of our people. Together we will determine the course of America and the world for many, many years to come.

We will face challenges. We will confront hardships. But we will get the job done. Every four years, we gather on these steps to carry out the orderly and peaceful transfer of power.

And we are grateful to President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama for their gracious aid throughout this transition. They have been magnificent. Thank you.

Today’s ceremony, however, has very special meaning. Because today, we are not merely transferring power from one administration to another or from one party to another.

But we are transferring power from Washington D.C. and giving it back to you, the people.

For too long, a small group in our nation’s capital has reaped the rewards of government while the people have borne the cost. Washington flourished, but the people did not share in its wealth. Politicians prospered, but the jobs left. And the factories closed.

The establishment protected itself but not the citizens of our country. Their victories have not been your victories. Their triumphs have not been your triumphs. And while they celebrated in our nation’s capital,  there was little to celebrate for struggling families all across our land. That all changes starting right here and right now. Because this moment is your moment. It belongs to you.

Victory Dance!

Posted January 20, 2017 By John C Wright

The Announcement countdown clock is still ticking. I will post it in half an hour. To aid us all to while away the time, I offer the following:

The same young and attractive fan who sent me a victory dance video for my winning the Dragon Award for SOMEWHITHER has now become a colleague and appears alongside me in the table of contents of FORBIDDEN THOUGHTS, a science fiction book specifically designed to trigger SJWs, Morlocks, and hobgoblins of who prefer PC to SF.

One the wondrous day of the elevation and deification of the God-Emperor Donald I to the Chrysanthemum Throne of America, on the occasion of his donning the Pallid Mask and erecting the Yellow Sign for his terrified yet adoring brain-slaves to adore, I thought to post this Victory Dance was apt.
