Seen at a Local B&N

Posted February 27, 2017 By John C Wright

A sharp eyed reader kindly sent me this photo from the wild. It looks like book 5 of the Eschaton Sequence has finally made an appearance in some bookstores.

Racism Simulator

Read this text carefully.

If you are curious about who is saying that the laws should force everyone to wear the clothing, eat the food, and appreciate the art only of the same race as his ancestors, and to allow no Non-White to wear, eat, or appreciate any White clothing, food, or work of song, art, novel, or film, click through the link and see what the original text said in its original context.

The Wrights Hijack Catholic Geek Radio!

Posted February 26, 2017 By John C Wright

Tomorrow from 7pm to 9pm EST, while the unsuspecting Declan Finn rests on his long-needed vacation, John C. Wright and L. Jagi Lamplighter will be hijacking his radio show: Catholic Geek Radio. As if this were not bad enough, the Wrights have turned the show over to a crew of imaginary characters. The Lady Rachel Griffin and her blood-brother Sigfried Smith the Dragonslayer will be conducting the show and interviewing other fictional characters from the works of Wright and Lamplighter, with an eye toward whether any of them are worthy to be hired to star in a book. Interviewees may include Miranda and Mephisto Prospero, Wendy and Raven Ravenson, Menelaus Montrose and Blackie Del Azarchel, Gil Moth and his trusty friend, Ruff the phooka dog (Not a spy for elfs.)

Tune in to find out how Montrose and Blackie survived living together in a tin can for all those years, what Ruff thinks about spying for the elfs, and whether Mephisto really does like cheese.

Feel free to leave questions for any or all of the characters below!

The Last Crusade 08: Nine First Principles

Posted February 25, 2017 By John C Wright

Let us say clearly, at the outset, who we are, for what we fight, and in whose name. Let us say what the enemy is, and why he says he fights, and then say why he truly fights.

Who are we?

We are those who accept the fundamental first principles of Western Civilization.

For what do we fight? There are nine points of belief that form the foundations of civilization which are currently being subverted and undermined. To restore and rectify these we take up the cross.

We believe, first, in the majesty of truth; the impartiality of reason; the objectivity of reality. We believe in the authority of virtue; the verity of beauty; the dignity of man; the equality of the law; and the duty of the patriots, as free men, to uphold that law. And we believe in revealed truths too sacred for any law to approach or touch.

Because human dignity belongs to Man by nature, not by grant of law, hence natural also are his sacred rights to life, liberty, and the possession of the fruits of his labor. Sacred also are his duties, oaths, and covenants. We believe it is the sacred duty to enact among men just and equal laws to protect those rights and enforce those duties.

A manmade law purporting to alienate man from his natural rights merely loses its own authority as law.

Hence it is the duty of patriots to love their homes and nations and defend those laws. However, there are things more sacred than law which the law may not overbear, including the sacred duty to love, adore, and serve the Creator whose hand makes all the blessings men know, and man.

In other words, put more simply, we hold that truth is true, reason is reasonable, reality is real, goodness is good, beauty is beautiful, and that man is man. Sacred therefore are the laws that uphold, the flag that protects, and the cross that endows man with life and liberty.

Not Tired of Winning Yet XII

Posted February 24, 2017 By John C Wright

Have you noticed how much news reporting these days is nothing but the news talking about the news? It is as if the press has been taken entirely over by neurotic and self-absorbed narcissists.

Case in point:

The White House barred a number of news outlets from covering Sean Spicer’s Q&A session on Friday afternoon.  Spicer decided to hold an off-camera “gaggle” with reporters inside his West Wing office instead of the traditional on-camera briefing in the James S. Brady Press Briefing Room according to press reports.

Among the outlets not permitted to cover the gaggle were various news organizations that Trump has singled out in the past including CNN, The NYT, The Hill, Politico, BuzzFeed, the Daily Mail, BBC, the Los Angeles Times and the New York Daily News.

Several non mainstream outlets were allowed into Spicer’s office, including Breitbart, the Washington Times and One America News Network.  Several other major news organizations were also let in to cover the gaggle. That group included ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, Reuters and Bloomberg, however AP and Time have boycotted the event.

Dialog on Beauty

Posted February 24, 2017 By John C Wright

A reader asked me what I thought was a fascinating question.

As part of our general education classes, one of the fields I need to take a class in is Race and Diversity. I didn’t need to be a prophet to know this class was going to be pseudo-Marxist crap. So I chose the one Race and Diversity Gen Ed class I thought would be the least painful, a class on art (it’s no picnic, but I still think the other options would’ve been worse).

Not Tired of Winning Yet XI

Posted February 23, 2017 By John C Wright

First things first. Jack is Back:

Second, there is this:

Trump rescinds the Obama rule allowing perverts free entry into schoolgirl’s bathrooms and locker rooms.

The Leftwing, predictably, goes nuts, rolls on the ground in an epileptic fit, arms and legs jerking, frothing at the mouth, vomiting and rolling in the spew puddle.

Normally, I would advise clubbing a Leftist to death with a stout stick or truncheon, and burying the body at midnight in a landfill, but Christian charity reminds me that the merciful thing to do would be to stuff the lunatic into a strait jacket, and put him in a padded cell, where he can be no harm to himself or others.

I do not think there is a way to talk someone out of the belief that boys by fairy magic change into girls by donning a dress and wearing lipstick.

This is not a rational belief. It is an irrational belief.

Milo and the Bookstore

Posted February 22, 2017 By John C Wright

The libels against Milo Yiannopoulos continue, but the still, small voice of truth is speaking also. Those who were deceived innocently at first now have no excuse.

Within hours, an unedited version of the year-old conversation used to libel Milo was available, as were leaks from the press revealing that the attack was deliberate, coordinated, and duplicitous.

If any man looks at the evidence, pro and con, and decides Milo is secretly an advocate for pedophilia rather than a victim of it and a public crusader whose work has put three pedophiles behind bars, I will not argue the point. At least he looked at the evidence.

A man who condemns, sight unseen, a fellow human soul, taking the word of the Fake New media as gospel, that man has let partisanship overmaster his conscience and common sense.

He has joined a mob. He has joined the Two Minute Hate.

Homeschooling with the Great Books

Part of an ongoing conversation in which I was not involved (I was not the one asked the question) but which bears repeating:

Do you have any advice for a man such as myself who was raised in the modern public education system but wants to raise his children with a classical education?

Milo Libeled, Fools Fooled

Posted February 21, 2017 By John C Wright

The whole thing is a libel. Hope Milo sues them into bankruptcy. Found this interesting tidbit not long after hearing about the smear attack:

An anonymous journalist on 4chan posted a detailed warning of the media’s upcoming pedo-smear attack on Milo one day before it happened.

An image of the 4chan post can be found here:

H/T to gxg on Vox Day.

I have been on the receiving end of a coordinated libel Campaign like this but smaller and not this vicious.

The tactic is simple: simply edit what the victim says to make it sound like he said what you want him to say.

Then you have your Newsmen and paid trolls repeat it.

By the time the truth comes out, everyone already believes the narrative and it’s too late.

I realize that if you have never seen a fake edit job before, it will fool you. What you do to do a fake editing job is take parts of one sentence parts of one conversation and clip them to another. In this case you take a conversation about how many times two college students engaged in copulation are required to ask each other about the continued ongoing state of their consent, and then you clip in a discussion of the consent between a 17 year old and a 27 year old gay couple.

You take a sentence where the speaker uses the word ‘boy’ to refer to a seventeen-year-old and you clip it to a question when someone is asking about a 14 year old boy , clever editing makes it sound as if he is talking about lowering the age of consent to 14.

And even wary and careful viewer will be deceived.

In an unrelated news story,

Salon scrubbed it’s site of Todd Nickerson articles.

Another Reason to Celebrate

Posted February 20, 2017 By John C Wright

So this President’s  Day passed without Hillary being president, or Obama. And Trump continues to crush beneath his brass hoof that enemy of truth, life, and goodness once called the Main Stream Media, now called the Very Fake News.

If that were not enough. Read the remainder of this entry »

Be not deceived.  The so-called Culture War has been a disaster for us, a series of failures with only the briefest moments of temporary victory, won at terrible cost.

This is because the war is deeper than any matter of culture. It is an arm of an infinite struggle between angels and fallen angels, fought in every heart, in every nation, every generation.

This generation is hard pressed.

We live in the era of martyrs. More have been murdered for their love of Christ in this century than in all the previous combined, including all the famous persecutions by Stalin, Hitler, Napoleon, Henry, Mohammed, Diocletian, Marcus Aurelius.  Christians in Muslim nations are oppressed, humiliated, harassed, slaughtered, killed, and the churches in America do nothing. The churches in Europe welcome the debasement and destruction at the invader’s hands, in the name of diversity, which, to those churches, is greater than the name of Christ.

And yet his generation encounters a slender ray of sunlight.

Your Reading Assignment

Posted February 17, 2017 By John C Wright

From the Pen of the RPGPundit:

http://therpgpundit.blogspot.com/2017/02/harry-potter-and-way-millennial.html

…..during the midst of the Twitterstorm around these riots, I saw what must be my 50000th incidence of a Leftist millennial using a “harry potter” metaphor to try to explain current politics.

Dumbledore Wouldn’t Have Let This Happen

I swear, it’s all you ever see from them.
But something happened to me last night, I had a kind of realization. It suddenly hit me WHY that is.
It’s because Harry Potter is literally all they collectively know.

Schools don’t teach history anymore.

They no longer teach the canon of Western literature.

They certainly don’t teach the Bible.
So Millennials literally have no points of common reference.  It’s not that they all just want to look like complete morons by infantilizing their political metaphor to the level of a children’s book, it’s that they have no other choice.
They’re literally bereft of the allegorical language of the West.
 …
They can no longer express or understand the set of references we have from our past, our most prized stories, and our culture’s religious quotations.  They can’t do Shakespeare, Milton, or even Mark Twain because they’ve never learned any of these …
They don’t know what happened at Hastings in 1066, at Runnymede in 1215, or even at Sarajevo in 28th June 1914…
They certainly don’t know what “the least of these” refers to or where it comes from…

Read the whole thing, and lament.

Lo, all our pomp of yesterday
Is one with Nineveh and Tyre!
Judge of the Nations, spare us yet,
Lest we forget, lest we forget…

Ironically, I only know this poem, and what it means, because I first came across a reference to it in a SF novel by Piers Anthony, and the poet, Kipling, is one that Robert Heinlein praised and recommended in his stories. Even the lightest-hearted of juvenile fiction writers, back in the day, were part of a tradition which they kept alive and passed along.
