The Best St. Tommy Book Yet!

Posted March 31, 2020 By Mrs. Wright

Jagi, here.  I realize I am a bit bias because I am the editor for this series, but I thought this was teh best St. Tommy book yet!

Detective Thomas Nolan has finally returned home. In typical police fashion, he is welcomed home with a murder case and gunfire.

After one arrest goes spectacularly wrong, Tommy is assigned another case and another dead body.

But everything goes wrong from the start of the case. The deceased is a member of a nearby military base, and no one wants to answer his questions. A local bodega gives him mind-splitting headaches. Worst of all, someone is after his children.

To make matters worse — Tommy no longer has his charisms.

The Fifth Book of Unexpected Enlightenment

Posted March 30, 2020 By Mrs. Wright

Paper and hardcover version now available from Silver Empire!

Rachel Griffin returns:

We are celebrating Rachel Griffin’s birthday (March 30th) with the release of the next Book of Unexpected Enlightenment.

Rachel Griffin Knows a Secret Everyone Else Has Forgotten…

…She has discovered she has an older sister named Amber, who was stolen-away as a baby. Nobody but Rachel remembers her—not even their parents. Rachel is determined to find Amber and restore her to the family. But how?

She doubts it will be as easy as overhearing the name Rumpelstiltskin.

Meanwhile, Rachel has bigger problems. Wild fey have invaded the campus. If they so much as bewitch even one more student, Roanoke Academy will be forced to close its doors. Rachel and her friends must solve this menace before the academy cancels more classes or, worse, the Year of the Dragon Ball!
But she has hope—if she can keep the school open—because, as Rachel’s late grandmother told her, Masquerade balls are a time of wonder… when anything is possible.

Retrocausality at Marvel Comics

Posted March 28, 2020 By John C Wright

A reader with the novel yet binary name of New Number Two looks over the nausea-inducing inkblots drawn by one Mr. Luciano Vecchio for Marvel Comic’s latest desecration of a long stranding comic franchise, and asks a plaintive question:

One thing I don’t understand, why would the original “artist” sign his art? It is so bad and simplistic that it looks like a kid drew it, and a not very talented kid at that. Sign that “art” and your career is over. I mean, it is so bad that I figured Mr Kibblesmith drew it, not a real artist.

My comment:

I do not understand it, either, but I have a theory.

This is their religion. They do not call it a religion, but it is. In their religion, effect precedes cause. Theirs is a faith of retrocausality.

Woke Warriors Redesigned

Posted March 27, 2020 By John C Wright

These last few days, I have been provoked to to quite serious melancholy and helpless anger to see what may well be the last days on earth of the comic giant Marvel, source of much youthful joy during many idle hours.

I have also been provoked to quite frivolous nerd rage by the sheer, appalling, if not perfect badness of the designs for the latest team of ‘woke’ teen heroes, and spent an undue amount of time suggesting a write up of the first issue, Fat Chance and Her Amazing Friends versus Stilt-Man as well as answering the challenge of how one might salvage this dumpster fire   with a redesign of the same basic concept, only done in a workmanlike fashion.

Anything merely competent would be superior by far to the self-parody joke garbage Vecchio and Kibblesmith eructated out of their own inner spiritual darkness.

But your humble author is not the only comic fan looking at the stupidest idea in comic book history and thinking better can be done with it.

Here are some of the illustrations I found during a random search.

Shapers of Worlds Anthology FINAL THREE DAYS

Posted March 27, 2020 By John C Wright
The Kickstarter campaign to fund Shapers of Worlds, an anthology of science fiction and fantasy short stories by authors (including yours truly) who were first-year guests of Canadian author Edward Willett’s award-winning podcast The Worldshapers (www.theworldshapers.com), is entering its final three-day push.

See Shapers of Worlds on Kickstarter

With a goal of $13,500 CDN (about $10,000 US), it’s currently 85 percent funded—which means it’s less than $2,000 CDN from its goal, which must be met by noon MDT on Monday.

Do not bother writing back to Obsidian. It is our old friend Steelman once again, commie apologist. Banned.

If there is even a single voice who wants him invited back to this platform, speak up, please.

Quote of the Day

Posted March 26, 2020 By John C Wright

While in a televised appearance on The View, the former vice president fielded a question by Sara Haines about President Trump’s repeated statement that the cure for the coronavirus, which for the time being is voluntary quarantine and social distancing, may be worse than the disease.

“Are you at all concerned, as Trump said, that we cannot let the cure be worse than the problem itself,” asked the host.

Biden quickly responded, “We have to take care of the cure. That will make the problem worse, no matter what. No matter what. We know what has to be done,” said Biden.

Not Tired of Winning Yet CIV

Posted March 25, 2020 By John C Wright

Let us compare the proposed Democrat tactics to stop the spread of the China Flu with what the Trump Administration is doing and has done, shall we?

I shall make my comment at the outset, since this list is so long. Thank God grown ups are in charge of the White House. Can you imagine what a boondoggle would have happened had Hillary “Benghazi” Clinton, been in charge?

SJWarriors — Could They be Salvaged?

Posted March 25, 2020 By John C Wright

Across cyberspace, there has been considerable discussion, all of it filled with mockery and contempt, for the disgusting travesty called the New Warriors, which by rights should be called Fat Chance and her Amazing Friends.

As an aid to Mr. Kibblesmith, the  writer, I have already provided the outline of how the first issue should go, when the Genderqueer Woke-Warriors face off against the Z-List supervil, Stilt-Man, a long-legged luminary of larceny!  The towering tall-man of terror!

I would say Mr. Kibblesmith needs additional aid.

Can the concepts be salvaged?

Well, since they are basically ripoffs of older and better heroes and heroines, I would say so. If you gave a pro writer the project, I wager he could write the holy flaming bejesus out of it.

There is nothing wrong with any of these ideas if they were being used by sane people to tell an interesting and honest story, not preach progressive propaganda.

Here is the announcement, for those who missed it:

Fat Chance and Her Amazing Friends!

Posted March 22, 2020 By John C Wright

The comic book world is gabbing and aghast at the revised team ironically called the New Warriors, who hereafter will be called the New Social Justice Warriors, designed by a man named Kibblesmith.

Note that if one uses Google to look up information on this phenomenon, nothing but links to positive, flattering articles are returned on the first page or so. Using Duckduckgo allows negative articles to be seen.

How will this revised version of the team stack up against a Marvel supervillain? That is what we here today will set about to investigate.

To discover the answer, I asked my youngest son, a boy who reads comics. He was asked to use his teen boy brain to puzzle out the possible wargame scenario of the New SJ Warriors against a fitting Marvel foe.

Let us first examine our SJW heroes, and then select a foe.

What about the Old New Warriors?

Posted March 21, 2020 By John C Wright

I still like the New Warriors.

I am old enough to be the grandfather of any of those characters now, but I still like comic books, because, let’s be honest, if my taste in entertainment grew in sobriety, deepened in wisdom, or rose to the height of discriminating good taste, would I write Space Operas about Space Princesses? I say thee ‘nay.’
